The Subodh B.Ed. College, Sikar, Rajasthan was started in 2006 is one of the leading teacher training college situated in Bhagat Singh Colony, Nawalgarh Road, Sikar. It is a co-educational college affiliated to university duly recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college now comprises 0.74 acres of land and has a total of 195 students and 16 teachers. Subodh B.Ed. College provides only one course, the B.Ed., for which it has an approved capacity of 100 students; students are trained to become effective educators for the future.

Subodh B.Ed. College has a variety of amenities since it aims at improving students’ learning environment. There is a boy’s hostel and a girl’s hostel where students share 2- 3 seater comfortable rooms and hygienic mess facilities. As one of the sources of academic literature, the library contains a stock of 5000 books as well as periodicals and audio-visual materials, having internet, photocopying facilities as well. To help enhance the teaching learning process, the college has functional laboratory equipped with apparatus and chemicals needed in conducting experiment such as physics, chemistry and biology. It consists of a large computer laboratory that is necessary to perform creative IT works and improve students’ IT proficiency since the contemporary education process presupposes their use.

Currently it offers only one course which is a full time two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course at Subodh B.Ed. College. It thus aims at focusing all resources and knowledge in the institution to develop quality teacher education. As it is, the B.Ed. course offered by the college has been approved for 100 intake capacity, which means that the college insists in providing its students with competent instructors to student ratio. Even though the graduation data for the current year is missing, the total enrolment of 195 students indicate that there is a steady production of aspirants in the field of education in the college.

Subodh B.Ed. College as an institute has its own infrastructure so it admits students on the basis of merit and direct admission through Pre-Teacher Education Test (PTET) conducted by the Government of Rajasthan. The guidelines guarantee tough but standard competition for the aspiring teachers such that only deserving candidates are hired. All students seeking to be admitted in the B.Ed programme must have Passed the PTET to qualify.
