Suddhananda School of Management and Computer Science (SMC), Bhubaneswar, is a prestigious institution for postgraduate studies in professional management and computer science. Admission at SMC is devised to capture the talented and highly-motivated students who seek admittance into the MBA and MCA programs of the institute. The admission process in the institute takes place on a merit basis and entails a combination of scores from the national-level entrance examination. For MBA as well as MCA programs, SMC accepts from various competitive entrance exams: OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination), MAT (Management Aptitude Test), CAT (Common Admission Test), XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), and ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions).

The academic year at SMC always begins with the month of August-September when the admission process starts a few months earlier. Applicants are advised to check the official website of SMC or of the respective exam portals for the precise dates and deadlines since they tend to vary each year.

Generally eligibility criteria to be admitted into the SMC programs are given below:

  1. MBA: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  2. MCA: A bachelor's degree with Mathematics at the level of 10+2 or at the level of graduation.

Candidates should also satisfy the eligibility criteria of the corresponding entrance exams that they wish to give.

Application Process

The process of application in Suddhananda School of Management and Computer Science, Bhubaneswar is as follows:

1. Registration for Entrance Exam:

  • Register for any of the accepted entrance exams (OJEE, MAT, CAT, XAT, or ATMA) through their respective official websites.

Degree-wise Admission Process

MBA (Master of Business Administration): SMC has an MBA program with an intake of 180 students for a particular academic year. The admission process through MBA involves the following steps:

  1. Qualifying any of the above-mentioned entrance examinations namely; OJEE, MAT, CAT, XAT or ATMA.
  2. Meeting the eligibility criteria of a Bachelor's Degree with minimum 50% aggregate marks.
  3. Shortlisted candidates may be called for other additional rounds of selection consisting of group discussions and personal interviews. 
  4. Final selection would be based on the performance of the candidate in the entrance exam followed by further rounds.

MCA (Master of Computer Applications): The MCA program at SMC admits 60 students. The admission process consists of similar steps as for MBA:

  1. Qualifying the accepted entrance examination: OJEE, MAT, CAT, XAT, or ATMA.
  2. Meet the eligibility requirement of graduation with Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level.
  3. Shortlisted candidates may proceed for further selection rounds.
  4. Final admission is provided based on the overall performance of the candidate.
