Sukanta College was founded in the year 2008 at Bhangankhali, Basanti, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. It is affiliated with and imparts undergraduate courses in Arts. The institution aims to provide an ambience of learning and development to the students coming for higher education in this rural region. The campus has a total area of 4 acres. The present total student enrolment in the college is 310 with a faculty strength of 15, thereby maintaining a very appreciable student-teacher ratio.

Sukanta College runs 5 courses in 2 degrees: specialisations under the B.A. programme. The college strives to provide all necessary facilities toward making the learning process enriching for its students.
