SUM College of Teacher Education was established in 2006 in Kannur and has earned a reputation as one of the premier institutions dealing with the future of education. This affiliated college is situated in Muzhappala Mamba, Kannur, Kerala, and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to maintain the quality of the teacher education programme. SUM College comprises of five acres land where the institution provides this favourable environment for learning and all round development. Taking an overall enrolment of one hundred students and 11 faculty members, the college has manageable student-teacher ratio guaranteeing individual approach and tutor-student interactions.

SUM College of Teacher Education has a number of facilities aimed at complementing the learning process, as well as the individual growth of learners. Rich info centre of aspiring educators is the library that has more than five thousand two hundred books in store.  Equipped laboratories allow the practical engagement, the auditorium is intended for various activities and presentations. The IT facilities and Wi-Fi are up to date in order to meet the changing world needs where student need to be connected at all times. In the course of the over all development SUM College has provided sporting amenities, cafeteria and encourages co-curricular activities and participation through club activities, NSS and NCC.

At this time, the SUM College of Teacher Education has only one major course offering, the B.Ed programme. This is a two- year full-time course with an approved annual student capacity of 50 students this is in order to make sure that the college upholds sound student- teacher ratio to give quality education to the students. The curriculum of the B.Ed programme will allow the students acquire the knowledge and skills required in the modern teaching fraternity.

On the admission of the candidate to SUM College of Teacher Education they are admitted based on merit after fulfilling the guidelines as provided in the college prospectus. Prospective students have certificates validated in merit, quota, and category, through a vigorous process ofvalidation. This means that the chosen student is qualified, fulfilling the college standards and aspiring to achievement of desired results.
