Susruta School of Medical and Paramedical Sciences, Silchar: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Susruta School of Medical and Paramedical Sciences, Silchar, was established in 2010 as a constituent college of Assam University. This co-educational institution is located at Silchar, Assam, focusing on education and research in the pharmaceutical context. Since this is an approval by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), the students graduating from it will be at the standard national level of pharmacy education. The institute offers programmes in pharmacy at a Bachelor's, Master's, and even Doctoral level. With 14 dedicated staff, the commitment of the school to pharmaceutical sciences can be seen from its varied, overall course offerings as well as research opportunities. 

Various facilities have been made available within the institute for educational enrichment among the students. Library is part of the different academic resources present, which covers an area of 38,700 sq. ft. and an information centre for the whole of the Barak Valley area. For students who live on campus, there are different hostel facilities for both male and female students, which houses them comfortably with elementary facilities. Health care is accorded priority by the institute, with a full-time, well-equipped Health Centre manned by experienced medical officers, with a Lady Medical Officer. 

Sports enthusiasts will find use in well-equipped gymnasium, and indoor and outdoor games and sports activities and sports events are organised during the Annual Social Meet. Connectivity is offered by the institute through Computer Centre, which also acts as the central hub for ICT-related services besides offering Internet through National Knowledge Network. Susruta School of Medical and Paramedical Sciences offers three degree courses under it, with a total of four different courses. 

All these courses are full time in nature. This reflects the approach of the institute towards whole time devoted education in pharmacy. The base course offered by the institute is the Bachelor of Pharmacy, which has an approved intake capacity of 50 students. At post graduate level, the school offers two courses in M.Pharma: Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Each of them has an approved intake capacity of 8 students. Admission to Susruta School of Medical and Paramedical Sciences are designed to enrol aptly and motivated students in its programs. Nothing has been mentioned, however for B.Pharma. 

Most schools of pharmacy accept national level entrance exams while state level entrance exams are also available for admission to some of the pharmacy programs. Scores from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate, NEET PG are accepted for M.Pharma, strictly keeping in line with all national standardised admissions procedures for medical and paramedical programs at post graduate levels. Association with Assam University and accreditation by the Pharmacy Council of India assure pass-outs of recognised degrees, thereby promising them lucrative careers in the pharmacy arena, research, or higher education.
