SV Memorial College of Nursing, Amritsar was set up in 1998 to provide education in Nursing in Punjab – INDIA. This is a co-educational college is situated on Batala Road near Verka and it covers an area of 20 acres of land. Currently, the institute provides 3 degree courses for various nursing specialities and 5 specialised courses for 281 students total. Having a qualified staff of 37 dedicated faculties, the college makes certain to provide increased student to faculty ratio, which promotes mastery of knowledge and effective teaching. There are different IT specialisations in nursing offered by SV Memorial College of Nursing to meet different career needs in the growing health care industry. The college offers five full- time courses and these courses comprise both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. For undergraduates, there are four-year B.Sc Nursing and two year Post basic B.Sc Nursing programme available on the table. As for those students who want to get deeply specialised the college provides two-years M.Sc in Medical Surgical Nursing and Obstetrical and Gynaecological Nursing. Further, the institution has the three year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) for nursing students. The total approved intake overall programmes is 160 students meant to offer quality education with more attention given to each course.

Each programme offered at the SV Memorial College of Nursing has its own pattern of admission in order to accept the most suitable students. The B.Sc Nursing programme admissions are made from the merit of the Punjab Para Medical Entrance Examination (PPMET) conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. Likewise, for the Post Basic B.Sc Nursing course candidates are also admitted through an entrance conducted by the same university. Even more, the aspiring postgraduate students eligible for admission to M.Sc programmes of Medical Surgical Nursing or Obstetrical and Gynaecological Nursing have to appear for the Punjab M.Sc Nursing Entrance Test (PMNET) conducted by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. The nature of the GNM programme is somewhat different in this regard; admission is done by the selection committee of the college which includes the Principal, Vice Principal, Senior Tutor and Nursing Superintendent.
