Situated in the heart of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, The New College, Kolhapur, was started in the year 1971. This affiliated college is spread on a compact 3.22-acre campus and has been fostering young minds since the last five decades. The NAAC-accredited college offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The New College offers a vibrant campus life with an overall student strength of 3,907 and a faculty strength of 114. It has under its umbrella 16 courses spread over 9 different degree programs, offering multiple options to suit varied academic interests and career goals. 

State-of-the-art facilities excel the academic experience at The New College. The library, a threestoried independent building in the college, has more than 80,000 books and two separate study rooms. For those students who are more inclined toward modern technology, four well-equipped air-conditioned computer laboratories serve the purpose. It also has 12 spacious laboratories for departments such as Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and others. The sports-minded have a large playground for football, basketball, and athletics. The importance is laid on student welfare with separate hostels for boys and girls, well equipped with solar systems, study rooms, and other facilities. A canteen, auditorium, gym, and a health center with first-aid facilities all help in making campus life complete.

The New College offers a comprehensive array of academic courses that meet diversified student interests. It provides 16 courses, undergraduate and postgraduate programs alike. The undergraduate courses comprise BA, BSc, and BCom, as well as professional ones like BBA, BCA, and BCS. The undergraduate college also offers postgraduate courses with MCom, MA in Economics and Sociology, MSc Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Maths, and Computer Science. At the other end, it also offers doctoral courses in Physics and Botany, which indicate that the institution's academic inclination is towards research and higher education.

The admission procedure at The New College, Kolhapur, is such that it has to be free from all unfair practice; the selection of students will be strictly on merit basis. For courses at the undergraduate level, such as BA, B.Sc, and B.Com, admission is strictly on the basis of merit, decided from the Higher Secondary Certificate Board results. The process starts immediately after the declaration of HSC results. For professional courses like BBA, BCA, and BCS, the admission will be based on a common entrance examination conducted by Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
