The New College, Kolhapur: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Established in 1971, The New College, Kolhapur, is situated in the heart of Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The affiliated college is spread across a compact 3.22-acre campus and has been nurturing young minds for nearly five decades. Currently, the college is NAAC accredited and offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The New College offers vibrant campus life with an overall student strength of 3,907 and a faculty strength of 114. It has under its umbrella 16 courses spread over 9 different degree programs that offer multiple options to suit varied academic interests and career goals. 

State-of-the-art facilities excel the academic experience at The New College. The library, an independent building within the three stories in the college, possesses more than 80,000 books and two separate study rooms. There are four well-equipped air-conditioned computer laboratories catering to those students who have more of an inclination toward modern technology. It also possesses 12 spacious laboratories dedicated to various departments like Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, etc. The sports-minded have a large playground for football, basketball, and athletics. The hostels for boys and girls exist separately with solar systems, study rooms, and other facilities well equipped, focusing on student welfare. A canteen, auditorium, gym, and health center with first-aid facilities are all avenues helping in making campus life complete. New College offers a wide array of academic courses appropriately diversified for different student interests.

It provides 16 courses, undergraduate and postgraduate both. The undergraduate courses include BA, B.Sc, and B.Com, while the professional courses include BCA, and BCS. Undergraduate college also offers postgraduate courses which include MCom, MA Economics and Sociology, MSc Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Maths, and Computer Science. At the other end, it also offers doctoral courses in Physics and Botany, which indicates that this institution's academic inclination is towards research and higher education. 

Admission procedure at The New College, Kolhapur is so designed that there would be no scope of unethical practice. Student selection would be purely merit-based. Admission strictly on merit for Undergraduate courses like BA, B. Sc, B. Com. This will be decided from the Higher Secondary Board Results. The procedure will begin immediately after the declaration of results. Admission would be based on the common entrance examination conducted by Shivaji University, Kolhapur for professional courses such as BBA, BCA, and BCS.
