Tipu Sultan Unani Medical College and Hospital, Gulbarga, which was started in the year 1998, is one among the institutions in Unani medicine. This affiliated college is situated in Millat Nagar, Ring Road, Gulbarga Dist, Karnataka and this college is covering an area of about one acre of land. The institute has only one course, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), it had a total student strength of 277 and faculty of 34 in 2014. Like many institutions of its kind, it enrols both male and female students and therefore, promotes gender equity. This commitment to education in traditional and natural systems of medicine especially Unani makes the college an avenue of choice for medical students to honed their skills.

Tipu Sultan Unani Medical College and Hospital has set up amenities that put into consideration both instructional framework and health of learners. Academic facilities include a central library with more than 13,000 books, new Unani journals and periodicals to update the students regarding the progress made in their faculty. It has well-equipped modern I-III PC based central and departmental laboratories with advanced  instruments following CCIM norms for practical. The college also focuses on health with sports and weight lifting amenities such as the gym. Since the students come from different areas of the country, the institutions provide a separate hostel for boys and girls. Tipu Sultan Unani Medical College and Hospital, Gulbarga, is one of those few universities which is offering only the BUMS course. This course takes six years of full time training and is designed to train competent and professional Unani practitioners. 

The process of admission in Tipu Sultan Unani Medical College and Hospital (degree) college is as per norms of medical college. The candidates seeking admission in the BUMS must have passed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test known as NEET-UG.
