Established in the year 1960, Tirhut College of Agriculture, Muzaffarpur, is one of the premier constituent colleges of Bihar Agriculture University. The co-educational institution covers a campus of 277 acres and duly approved even by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research and offers a complete B. Sc. Agriculture (Hons.) programme. With a total enrolment of 265 students, its faculty strength of 49 goes a long way in ensuring an appreciable student-teacher ratio.
Tirhut College of Agriculture is a place with a lot of modern facilities for academic pursuit. A well-equipped computer center with internet connectivity provides students with the necessary IT infrastructure for study and research. The college possesses the availability of over 20,000 textbooks and other periodicals in twenty subjects, ranging from basic agricultural sciences to biotechnological and organic farming advanced subjects. The inclusion of CD-ROM databases in college libraries will increase not only the college but also the research capabilities of the students by many folds. The college maintains the largest number of subject-specific laboratories to provide practical exposure to its students in different disciplines of agriculture.
Tirhut College of Agriculture offers one full-time program, i.e., B.Sc Agriculture (Hons). The total duration of the programme is of 4 years during which the students are promised to be given an in-depth insight into the studies and practices of agriculture. Admission at Tirhut College of Agriculture is due to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG). The test is nationally conducted and is one of the primary means whereby new entrants qualify for the B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) programme.
