TJ Institute of Technology (TJIT)was established in the year 2001 as a self-financing institution located at Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Located in a large complex of 10.08acres, TJIT provides a wide variety of engineering and management courses. The institute is recognised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and it is an affiliated college. Having a faculty team of 153, TJIT has set a bench mark in providing education to the students across fifteen courses offered under four degree programmes. It is seen that the institute maintains a high level of academic recognition by having well equipped infrastructures and by focusing on the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cyber Security among others.
On this regard TJ Institute of Technology has several facilities that can facilitate the learning process and development of the students. It includes a well equipped laboratory for Operating Systems, Network laboratory, VLSI/DSP laboratory, and CAD/CAM laboratory is available in the campus. The central library contains 27959 books and 5800 titles including online journals and NPTEL video lectures. The schools are supported by several high-performance computers over three hundred, and wireless internet connection throughout the academic complex. The institute addresses the physical health with adequate sports facility such playground for outdoor games, indoor stadium to conduct games such as basketball, badminton and many more. The hostels have separate sections for boys and girls, which features comfortable furniture and bedding, essential modern amenities and, important rule and regulation is strictly adhered to.
This institute is endowed with a composite curriculum of academic programmes to meet requirements of different engineering disciplines and management sciences. Currently, TJIT has 15 full time programmes in its offering portfolio, divided into undergraduate and postgraduate qualification. The undergraduate programmes include the conventional engineering disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Computer Science disciplines and the emerging streams or AI & Data Science. The post graduate course offerings at TJIT include MBA and MCA programmes as well as ME specialised programmes in Applied Electronics, Computer Science and Engineering, Engineering Design and Power Systems Engineering. The total approved intake across all courses currently is 864 seats which from the institute’s perspective ensures that a large number of students with the desire and ability to be professionals are trained each year.

TJ Institute of Technology follows a strict admission process that is all rounded and bases its selection on merits. For undergraduate programmes in Engineering, the students are admitted based on TNEA counselling, in which the performance of the students are evaluated. MBA as well as MCA courses in various universities invite scores from the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). The institute also recognises Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission scores for some the postgraduate engineering programmes also. TJIT firmly upholds the principle of multicultural openness and aims at admitting students of different backgrounds. TJ Institute of Technology (TJIT) is endowed with an architecture of self-financing with various engineering and management programs. The institute has the recognition of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and a merit-based admission policy is followed for undergraduate and postgraduate candidates. TJIT aims to have a rigorous admission system, which finds merit students from among an ocean of applicants coming from the state or outside.
At TJIT, the admission cycle roughly follows the Tamil Nadu state academic calendar with almost all programs beginning in August. For undergraduate engineering programs, it participates in the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling process, whereby a centralised admission scheme evaluates students based on their performance in qualifying examinations and seats them accordingly.
For MBA and MCA programs, the entrance scores obtained in Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) are relied upon for postgraduate admissions. This is an entrance test at the state level for admission into management and computer application courses. Besides, the institute has also allowed scores of other relevant entrance tests for some of its postgraduate programs in engineering.
Application Process
Application Modes differ based on the program offered by TJ Institute of Technology.
For B.E./B.Tech programs:
1. He/She should qualify the 10+2 examination with required subjects and minimum marks.
2. Register for TNEA counselling.
3. Participate in the TNEA counselling process and select TJIT as a preferred institute.
4. If allocated a seat, the candidate should report to TJIT for document verification and admission formalities.
For MBA and MCA programs:
1. Candidates will first appear for TANCET.
2. The candidates will apply to TJIT according to the application process prescribed by the institute (details needed to be checked on the official website of the institute).
3. The institute arranges a counselling process, for which these candidates will attend.
4. The selected will be admitted after fulfilling all requirements, consisting of document verification and fee payment.
For M.E. programs:
1. Check the specific admission requirements for the chosen specialization on TJIT's official website.
2. Apply through the institute's application process, which may include consideration of relevant entrance exam scores or the institute's own selection criteria.
3. Attend any interviews or additional tests as required by the institute.
4. If selected, complete the admission process by submitting necessary documents and paying the required fees.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.E./B.Tech Programs: TJIT offers a wide variety of undergraduate engineering programs, such as Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, Cyber Security, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning. The admission to these programs is offered by TNEA counselling process on account of the students having obtained the profits of qualifying examinations.
MBA Program: The MBA program at TJIT has 120 seats. The admission process is based on obtaining a TANCET score followed by a process of counselling by the institute.
MCA Program: MCA also has 60 seats. The admission approach is similar to that of the MBA program, where they are based on the TANCET score followed by counselling.
M.E. Programs: TJIT offers many M.E. programs, including Applied Electronics, Computer Science and Engineering, Engineering Design, and Power Systems Engineering. These have a small intake, ranging from 18-24. To these programs, the relevant entrance test score may be considered along with the institute's own selection process.
