Travancore Engineering College known as TEC was started in the year 2002 and is situated in Kollam, Kerala. This affiliated college that has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education – AICTE, present a number of engineering programmes for their students on their 25 acre campus. TEC, with a total student intake of 88 and a faculty strength of 61 helps the institute deliver focused education. The college is currently offering four B.Tech programmes where students are prepared with recent knowledge in the respective disciplines. Travancore Engineering College offers four full-time B.Tech programmes: Civil engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. These programmes are flexible ones that need to capture the aspirations of engineering students and the changing requirements of the profession. The college has been given over all intake capacity of 195 seats certified by AICTE that are distributed in diverse streams as follows: Civil Engineering 60, Computer Science and Engineering 60, Mechanical Engineering 60, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering 15. All programmes are full-time, four-year courses, and a goal of each programme is to equip students with a depth of knowledge within a specific field.

The Travancore Engineering College selection process is easy and, therefore, all candidates are selected based on the values they produce during their application. The Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical (KEAM) rank Commissioner for Entrance Examination makes allotment for merit seats. Merit seats for colleges are selected by the management based on a separate ranking list derived by considering equal importance for KEAM marks and plus two marks (in Mathematics , Physics & Chemistry or equivalent) standardised. This makes the admission process to be standard and credible and thus attracting worthy students from the state.

KEAM scores are accepted in all its B.Tech disciplines, thereby making TEC available to as many wannabe engineers as possible. The college also offers hostels to students of both sexes and each of these hostels has a maximum capacity of 120 students.
