The Tripura Medical College and Dr.BRAM Teaching Hospital is a self financed medical college which was set up in 2006 in the city of Agartala in West Tripura. This affiliated college recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) provides various medical courses at its expanded 25 acres land. The college has a total intake capacity of 544 students from all the courses offered and a faculty of 111 members. The institute provides five courses in three degree programmes of General Medicine, Pathology, Pharmacology, and Ear, Nose & Throat – ENT.
Tripura Medical College has various facility structures which has been established to improve learning and general health of the learners. The hostel accommodation for students has the option for boys and girls each of which is conveniently situated close to the hospital and the various faculties. Boys have Two five story hostels while girls have three hostels of different storyes . Regarding academic activities, every department has its own library but also enriches the main library for the students to be up-to-date. The college also provides accommodation to the extra activities like health education and recreation with indoor and outdoor sports facilities such as gym. Regarding the health of students, there is first of all a health centre at the campus.
The Tripura Medical College has overall medical dais learning and provides programme right from the under graduate to post graduate level. The main course at SHU has a total of one hundred students intake, while other post graduate programmes such as the MD General Medicine, MD Pathology, MD Pharmacology, and MS ENT has only one or two students intake each. All courses are very time-bound and hence all courses are full time to ensure focused medical education. The directive of offering skills in the area of medical practice by the college is evident in the courses provided as well as facilities offered for students learning and growth.
The admission process in Tripura Medical College has stringent policies and follows all national level policies for admission. Admission to the MBBS programme is taken through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) and all the seats are under the Private Management seats which is dependent on the all India Rank declaring by the CBSE. Admissions for postgraduate courses for the MD and MS are equally taken through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduates (NEET-PG). They help make the college admit students based on their performance as well as aptitude to study medicine. The college is fully associated with national level entrance exams to ensure the educational standards of the college and actually to match up with the medical education system of India.

In neet 2019, 251 marks was the lowest marks that was required for st category for getting a mbbs seat in a government medical college under Tripura state quota and it was for Agartala Government Medical College, Agartala
