Affiliated college Tura Polytechnic was established in 2003 and is situated in Tura, Meghalaya. This institution approved by AICTE is present over 19 acres of campus; it proffers 03 diploma courses with overall admission capacity of 133. Polytechnic is established to give proper importance to technical education and currently offering full time Course in Computer Applications, Food Processing & Preservation and Medical Electronics etc. The total number of faculty in Tura Polytechnic is 20; this make the student and teacher ratio good, thus there is much emphasis on the students. The specialisation is a clear indication of the institute’s desire to deliver quality education to meet market needs currently and in the future.

Tura Polytechnic has put in place various infrastructures that can facilitate learning, and make the students to have the best learning experience. It also includes a boys’ and girls’ hostel so out station students can live comfortably within the college premise. A well stocked library is a place where get-together of different type of books like text books, reference books, periodicals, magazines etc are brought under one roof following open access system. The college also takes interest in health aspects of its student hence there are medical facilities within the institution. Social responsiveness is also exhibited by the institute’s provision of modern education following investment in an adequate computer facilities section of IT section. College events and activities are held in an auditorium that consist of 200 seats for participants. The college also offers transport facilities to students and staffs so that they can transport easily to the college campus. It has specialty labs and workshops in all discipline areas are very much essential for technical learning and the programmes are delivered by well qualified faculty. A canteen on site ensures that everybody on campus has something to munch on and a place where they can interact with fellow human beings.

Tura Polytechnic is quite specialised in a category of courses; it offers only three diploma courses which are full time. These courses are offered under different specialisations to meet the career needs of the learners. It offers Diplomas in Food Processing and Preservations, Computer Applications and Medical Electronics. The total approved intake of students for the institute is ninety students but in each course group there are only thirty students. This is a blessing because such a limited intake guarantees adequate attention and quality education to its learners. Although the actual number of graduates is not available and the institute’s focus on technical education with special emphasis on practical training, student for successful career in their fields of choice.

Tura Polytechnic, Tura Admission

The admissions process at Tura Polytechnic usually begins much earlier than the academic year. In such cases, prospective aspirants are very much advised to refer to the official website of the institute or contact the admissions office for information on application deadlines and important dates. Eligibility criteria generally comprise completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board institution.  Entrance exams would be held by the institute, or scores from different state or national entrance tests would be used for admission.

Application Process

The application process, it is presumed, is made simple for the aspiring students:

1. Getting the application form: Generally, a candidate can obtain the form from the institute or the website.

Degree wise Admission Process

Diploma in Computer Applications: There will be an intake for 30 seats. This course provides students with practical skills regarding the applications of computers. Accordingly, the admission process is likely to include some emphasis on the candidate's performance in relevant subjects during his/her 10+2 studies and possibly an entrance test and/or interview.

Diploma in Food Processing and Preservation: This is a program that has an intake of 30 students and is linked to the emerging food industry. Candidates desirous of pursuing the course might have earlier qualifications with science subjects mainly in biology and chemistry.

Testing Electronics: This technical program is of 30 seats, and most likely, admission would take preference to the candidate's qualification in physics and mathematics.

For all these diploma courses, unified fee structure would indicate that the candidate would pay Rupees 12,246 for all these courses; this leaves for a unified admission process across courses, where the candidates will have to comply with general eligibility criteria and would have to go through a joint selection process based on their course of admission.
