With its origin tracing back to the year 1938, Union Christian Training College, Berhampore, is one of the premier colleges emanating from Murshidabad, West Bengal. This is a co-educational college that has an affiliation with the University of Kalyani and is well-known for its courses in teacher education. Now, this NAAC-accredited and NCTE-approved institution can boast of holding the lead position by being a qualitative institution in the locality. The college has a campus area of about 5 acres and has two full-time courses. 

This college has various facilities to enrich the learning process of its students. The library is well equipped and stocked with more than 10,000 books and seven different periodicals; this acts as a resource base in learning. In pursuit of practical training, there are four laboratories in the B.Ed department and two in the B.P.Ed department. The physical development of the students has been taken care of with a gymnasium and various other sports amenities. It will also keep in mind the needs and demands of those students who come from far-off places. Along with separate accommodation facilities for boys and girls, extra facilities at the college are provided, particularly to B.P.Ed. because it is a residential course. Other facilities include canteen, health center with first-aid facility, modern IT infrastructure to support digital learning.

Union Christian Training College has two special courses in the area of teacher education. Both are two-year regular full-time courses. These programs will assist students in acquiring knowledge and skills required for developing a successful teaching/physical education profession. The few areas of study give the college an opportunity to concentrate and provide an in-depth approach to teacher training.

The admission policy adopted by the Union Christian Training College is merit-based, reflecting its care for excellence and higher learning .In the case of B.Ed., the candidate shall be admitted on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination or entrance test, if any, conducted by the state government / university policies subsequently. Whereas the B.P.Ed course involves more stringent selection procedures, the selection shall take place through a written test, fitness test, interview, and percentage scored in the qualifying examination. Such a careful procedure at the level of admission makes certain that the right and most suitable candidates are selected for these highly important academic roles.
