The University College of Science and Technology, University of Calcutta, is one of the most eminent institutions of Kolkata, West Bengal, which started in the year 1914. It is one of the best institutions in the state of West Bengal, providing scientific and technological higher studies. UCST provides undergraduate as well as postgraduate degree programs in engineering and technology. Admissions to UCST are quite competitive and on the basis of merit. The aim of the admission process is to admit the most worthy and talented individuals from across the nation.
For B. Tech courses, the minimum eligibility is 10+2 from a known board with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. The majority of courses demand at least an aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying test. Postgraduate candidates should have a bachelor's degree in the concerned field from a known university, preferably with at least 55-60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
UCST has 33 courses in 4-degree programs. There are plenty of avenues for students to pursue their area of interest in computer science, electronics, chemical engineering and beyond. There are 81 professional faculty members focused on student growth.
Application Process
The application process at UCST differs according to the program:
For B.Tech programs:
1. Clear the mandatory national-level entrance test.
2. Get enrolled in the counselling as per instructions released by the examination conducting agency
3. Select UCST and desired courses while counseling.
4. On allotment of seat, present original documents and pay fees at UCST within office hours.
For M.Tech courses:
1. Clear the GATE exam in the concerned discipline.
2. Online application through UCST official website or prescribed application portal.
3. Pay application fee as specified.
4. Short listed candidates can be invited for further written tests and/or interviews.
5. The final selection shall be made based on GATE score and performance in additional tests/interviews, if any.
For MCA program:
1. Go through the MCA admission criteria and process on the UCST website.
2. Apply using the prescribed application procedure (can include entrance exam and/or interview)
Degree wise Admission Process
B. Tech: UCST has 12 B. Tech courses with 297 seats. Admissions to B. Tech courses are made on the merit of national level entrance tests. Courses offered are Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Polymer Science and Technology, etc. Seat availability for each course ranges from 10 to 42 based on the specialization.
M. Tech The institute provides 17 M. Tech programs with 321 seats. M. Tech programs are mostly conducted on the basis of GATE scores with few programs also carrying a written test and/or interview as a second screening process. The M. Tech programs conducted are Biomedical Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI Design, and Radio Physics and Electronics. Intake for every program is diverse, and some programs have 5 seats while others have 41 seats.
MCA: UCST also has a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program but no details about admission information or intake of seats.

hope you are doing good, unfortunately JEE main is not accepted in Calcutta University. For get admission in Calcutta University you have to attempt WBJEE exam and in 1st round of counselling the cut off was for general category for b.tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering was around 152-886 all over India.
