VEL College of Education, situated at Palani, Tamil Nadu, was started in the year of 2007 and comes under one of the deferred affiliating Colleges of the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University being dedicated to imparting teacher training education. This co-education college covering an area of 5.14 acres is an NCTE affiliated college for the teacher education programme. The college accepts 200 students in total and only 16 faculty members which provide the students coming to VEL College of Education with a concentrating learning atmosphere. At the moment, the institute offers only one degree programme, the Bachelor of Education (B.ED) which is a two- years full-time programme.

VEL College of Education has various amenities that help the students’ improved learning process and capacity. The library is considered to be the fundamental part of the collection of academic literature containing the large number of books belonging to such areas of knowledge as education, psychology, sociology, history, literature and methods of teaching. This also comprises of educational CDs, audio cassettes, educational encyclopedias and dictionaries to ensure students and the faculty gets updated with the current research information in their area of study from researched journals and seminar compendiums. Under physical development, the Department of Physical Education is well facilitated with indoor games as well as outdoor games and whereby encouraging the students to take part in one and other events and tournaments like the annual state level sports meet conducted by Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University.

VEL College of Education only has one course offered to students, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme with an approved enrolment of one hundred (100) students. This is a full time programme that will enable students to acquire all the aspects that they require to be effective teachers in their respective fields. The course spans two years which is standard for B.Ed programmes throughout India. It is however not clear the different specialisations within the B.Ed but the course may cover virtually all important subjects that are relevant to modern education theories and practices.

The admission policy of VEL College of Education is as per the state government, union territory administration and the affiliated University.
