VG Shivrekar College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Solapur was instituted in 2005 and emerged as a guiding star of higher education in the State of Maharashtra. This affiliated college is situated at Jule Solapur-1, on Vijapur Road. The campus sprawls over 3.28 acres, and the institution is accredited by NAAC, reflecting its commitment towards quality education. The college has a total enrolment of 692 students against a faculty strength of 42, which ensures a very favourable student-teacher ratio. The institution offers four varied degree courses in streams of arts, commerce, and science with emphasis on biotechnology both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 

The VG Shivdare College pride themselves on their various amenities toward increasing the learning experience for their students. The library is well-furnished and functioning as an information centre with more than 5,000 books and 36 periodicals. There are sections for students and staff. The theoretical inputs are supplemented with well-maintained specialised laboratories in Bio-Chemistry, Bio-Science, and Biotechnology, and an Instrument Laboratory. A computer lab with 20 computers is available, which provides students with the facility to stay updated on the latest technologies with high-speed internet connectivity. The college has a playground for physical well-being, where students can play different sports such as volleyball, cricket, kabaddi, and kho-kho. Other facilities include a health centre with first-aid help, a canteen, and an auditorium where various events and seminars are held. 

VG Shivdare College has a total of four full-time courses: two at the undergraduate and two at the postgraduate level. At the undergraduate level, the courses extend to BA, B.Com, and B.Sc in Biotechnology, all three–year programmes. The college also offers a postgraduate two–year course for an M.Sc. in biotechnology to students who wish to specialise in the subject. The aggregate approved intake for all courses is 330 seats. This college received 673 enrolments this academic year alone for its various undergraduate programmes, proving its popularity among local students
