Victoria College of Education, Bhopal: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

We have Victoria College of Education in Bhopal which was founded in 2005 to train future educators. Being affiliated to Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar, this college is situated right in the centre of the state of Madhya Pradesh and has earned a good name as a teacher training college. There are B. Ed, B. Sc, B. Com and B. A courses offered by CMC for which the college is recognized for the course it offers with the approval of the NCTE. The general enrollment of the students stands at 531 while the number of Faculties in Victoria College of Education stands at 34. The institution provides four distinctive degree program; and across them, all areas of education and physical education are covered; to give the trainee teachers a broad perspective.

The college has laid down a multitude of facilities that are intended to help students improve their learning experience. The core of such comforts comprises a modern automated library containing more than 15 Thousand 859 books for every range of education. Regarding education history, methodologies of teaching in classroom, library is a house of knowledge for anyone who wants to become an educator one day. Those fond of games more so indoor and outdoor games will heave a sigh of relief since the complex offers cricket, basketball practicing, and martial arts. Available with many paper-pencil tests and apparatus for the assessment of psychological characteristics, the college has a compulsory psychology laboratory for the research scholars and students. In a bid to adopt with the modern society the institution avails 35 computers that are connected to the internet so as to ensure that the students incorporate computers and internet in their study.

In this view, the Victoria College of Education has full-time courses amounting to four in its repertoire, designed for various educational objectives. The actual figure of the student enrollment in this college for all its courses is 300, another show of its willingness to ensure that quality is not compromised by taking in many students in a class. It shares Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Master of Education (M.Ed), Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) and Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) among the courses offered by the institution. These courses are meant to prepare learners with the essentials in order to practice education and physical education.

Till date, Victoria College of Education does not charge tuition fees and thus the admission process is based on merit in the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations and/or the entrance test. It is most important to note that the candidates are selected on merit of the qualifying examination or entrance test for the B.Ed programme in conformity with the decision of the state government and university concerned. It can also be observed that the academic merit is given high priority within the designed M.Ed program as well. As for other criteria, the D.El.Ed course also call for results from one or another qualifying examination or an entrance test. Whereas for B.P.Ed program, there are additional criteria for selection they carry out written examination, screening sports proficiency test, physical fitness test and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. To this end, the following multi-step approach was implemented to enhance the likelihood of enlisting the right candidates for each program. Caring for the talent is well represented in the Training and Placement Cell which offers counseling and pre-placements training, awareness sessions on resume writing, soft skills, group discussions, interviews and mock tests. Though, there is no specific information regarding the scholarships available for the students, the college’s concern for the total personality development and career of their students is well seen, thus makes the college an ideal place for the students interested in becoming teachers in the region.
