Vignan Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, established in 2006, is one of the premier institutions in pharmaceutical education at Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The campus is spread over 2.8 acres, with a wide range of pharmaceutical programs and currently 574 students enroled in the institution. The institution has a wide range of courses, with respect to the pharmaceutical area, in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At VIPT, there are 5 full-time courses at 3 degree levels: Bachelor of Pharmacy, or B. Pharma, as the main program with 100 students admitted annually. The courses at the postgraduate level are 15 seats for M. Pharma course in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, and Pharmaceutical Analysis. This institute also conducts 6-year Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharma.D.) programs with 30 seats, which provide a sustained quality education for those seeking advanced pharmaceutical practice and research. Thus, the student intake capacity of the VIPT institute through all its programs is 175, which testifies to the commitment of the institution in producing skilled professionals for the pharmaceutical industries.
Admission through VIPT is designed to be thorough and merit-based to ensure that only the brightest talent and the most earnest students get admitted to the institute. Admission to the B.Pharma course is awarded chiefly on the basis of relevant entrance examinations and academic records. For M.Pharma and Pharma.D courses, these criteria could extend to graduate-level qualifications and entrance test scores. VIPT believes in extending financial help to almost all of its students, either in the form of reimbursements or as scholarships. During the academic year 2022, at the undergraduate level, there were 212 students of 358, at the postgraduate level, 1 student of 56, and at the doctoral level, 73 students of 141, which demonstrates that the institute really has a dream of making quality pharmaceutical education accessible.
