Vignan’s Institute of Technology and Aeronautical Engineering (VITAE), set up in 2008 widely recognised educational institution in Nalgonda, Telangana. Set up in Vignan Hills, it provides an environment conducive to learning minus the pollution. VITAE is an affiliated college recognisied by the organisation, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The faculty of the institute comprises 185 dedicated academic members; thereby providing a sound academic backdrop to its students. Engineering education at VITAE is provided through ffive undergraduate programme, and all the courses are described as full-time programmes addressing the diverse technological sectors and with a focus on the present-day industrial environment.
VITAE offers a host of services that increase learning among students. Hostel facilities exist for both genders and there are as many as one hundred and fifty boy’s hostels and fifty girl’s hostels. These are home like structures where food is clean, and there is constant positive support for the necessary change in the student’s behaviour in order to perform well in the classroom. The central library of VITAE is an extensive learning resource centre measuring 427.4 meters square equipped with over 16555 books, 1,053 CDs & DVDs as well as access to 1152 e-journals and 65 national/international journal subscriptions. DELNET and NPTEL video lesson are also available in the library which consists many resources for the students. For sporting bent of mind and physical fitness, the institute boasts of a Department of Physical Education with adequate sporting facilities in cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, chess, and caroms etc.
At present, the school has five engineering programmes at its undergraduate level and these are all on fully accredited B.Tech programmes. Some of the areas for specialisation are Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Civil Engineering. The total approved intake of students in these programmes is 480 of which Computer Science and Engineering has a seat strength of 120, Electronics and Communication Engineering has a seating capacity of 120, Mechanical Engineering has 120, Electrical and Electronics Engineering has 60 and Civil Engineering has a capacity of 60. These courses enable the students to select some unique area of specialisation as per their areas of interest and the future planned careers existing in the constantly advancing technology.
VITAE has developed its admission process so that they are competent and also equitable admitting students. From the prosaic standpoint of infrastructure and faculty strength, VITAE is amply reflective of a commitment to delivering quality education. Such basic amenities and facilities as functional laboratories for experiments to enhance students’ performances, an Information Technology workshop for practical exposure, and Digital library with internet connection are available. In addition, transport facilities that are; own buses in good condition within the city to orbit parts of the city allows ease in accessing the campus for day scholars.
