About Vinayaka Mission's Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Salem

Established in the year 1988, Vinayaka Mission’s Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Salem is one of the most leading Homoeopathy College in Tamil Nadu. An extension of the institution, this constituent college is based in Chinna Seeragapadi, Salem, Tamil Nadu and occupies 6.The acreage of land. Hence the institute provides 8 courses in 2 degrees that is specialise in homoeopathic medicine. At present, the college has 561 students and the faculty has 44 staff members which help the college to create a good environment for teaching-learning and research. Recognised by the Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH), the institute offers well-recognised homoeopathic education fulfilling the need of the region.

Vinayaka Mission’s Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital has many learning amenities that promote the learning process and general wellbeing of the students. A well stocked library consists of more than seven thousand, six hundred books out of which three thousand, three hundred ninety one are text books and one thousand, two hundred and sixty one are reference books for both the faculty and the students. For the accommodation of its students, the institution has a hostels section for the male students, as well as a section for the female students. The hospital on the compound also acts as a training facility for the students and offers free service to the needy society. Besides, gymnasium, sports facilities, IT facilities, cafeteria, auditorium for events/seminars are also available. To support its teaching and learning activities and research, the college also has well equipped laboratories for practical sessions.

The 8 courses being offered at Vinayaka Mission’s Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital range from basic to the advanced level. The institute offers one undergraduate course namely Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) and seven Master degree courses of MD Homoeopathy in the following specialties: Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Practice of Medicine, Paediatrics, Homeopathic Pharmaceutics, Psychiatry, Organon of Medicine & Homeopathic Philosophy & Repertory. All programmes are only for day-section and the BHMS programme being 5.5 years while the MD programmes take 3 years each. The total approved intake capacity approved for all the courses together catering five BHMS courses and seven MD specialisation courses is 121; while the BHMS courses has got 100 intake capacity and 3 intake capacity per each of the seven MD specialisation courses.

The admission to Vinayaka Mission’s Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital follows a standard pattern which is merit based, and conforming to regulatory standards. The BHMS programme admission is offered through counseling done online by the AYUSH Admissions Central Counseling Committee, Ministry of AYUSH Government of India. The selection done on NEET UG Examination marks and other norms as prescribed by the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) regulations. For the postgraduate programmes, admissions will be given by All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET). The college takes scores of National level entrance exams like NEET PG and AIAPGET for different courses.
