Vishuddha Vidyalaya Society’s College of Physical Education, started in 1972 and located in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, is orienting the future of physical education. This institution is unique; located on a 16-acre compound, its primary aim is to churn out well-trained physical education personnel. Recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the college helps the students to have a specialised course plan that has an effective combination of theory and practical. At the present, the institution has a student population of 47 and 4 faculty members, which makes the learning environment intimate and straight-forward.
A variety of developmental facilities are available within and around the college compound. The essence of any academic facility is a library, which contains over 4,733 books, 5 journals, and 10 magazines. The recreation area on the campus has a football field, two volleyball courts, one handball court, two players for Kabaddi, and there is also an indoor badminton court. The college also boasts department-based laboratories to facilitate learning through practical assignments. For those that want to stay in top-notch shape, a fitness centre is provided. On mass whereabouts, it has a health centre that deals with first aid services for its students and persons in need. An auditorium is an enriching area for events and seminars and acts as an intellectual platform where people meet.
Vishuddha Vidyalaya Society's College of Physical Education currently offers one flagship programme: the B.P.Ed., or Bachelor of Physical Education. This is a three-year full course but prepares students with complete knowledge and expertise in physical education. The intake capacity that has been cleared for the program is 100 seats, for which the college has the capacity to train a good many physical education professionals in the future. Even though this is one of the college’s specialised degrees, the institution proves its concern with quality education in physical education and sports sciences.
The intake B.P.Ed programme at Vishuddha Vidyalaya Society’s College of Physical Education is laid down and selective. All the students applying for the particular university are mandated to sit and write the Central Entrance Test (CET). This entrance examination has been planned and framed as per the norms and directions laid down by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and as per the state government of Maharashtra. The CET is used as a benchmark to determine the competency levels and preparedness of the candidates on offer for the demanding B.P.Ed. course. The beginning and end of the CET may also differ each year, with students encouraged to frequently check the college’s website or contact the admissions office for such information.
Based on the information, it can be stated that the college has undoubtedly done much for the development of physical education during more than fifty years of its existence, though it is difficult to present definite information on the scholarships and successful graduates of the college.
