Visveswarapura Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences or VIPS was set up in the year 1980 and is a centre for providing pharmaceutical education in Bangalore City of Karnataka State. This is a co-educational college affiliated under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences providing specialisation in the field of pharmice. VIPS Bangalore is accredited by the Pharmacy Council of India PCI so the quality of education in pharmacy is good. The institute is small in size and is built on a plot of 0.94 acres Square kilometers with total enrolment of 394 students and has 31 faculties. Currently, VIPS teaches two degrees: B.Pharma, like a basic qualification for pharmacists, and D.Pharma degree to those who want to gain masters in pharmaceutical education.

Visveswarapura Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers numerous amenities to help improve both academic and individual development of the students. Living accommodations for students at VIPS are separate hostels for boys and girls with VIC amenities including TV and games. The rooms are ample, equipped, and arranged for the accommodation of two, and with messing conveniences suitable to various nationalities. One unique selling proposition has been its direct linkages with a 1000-bed tertiary care hospital, KIMS Hospital where students get to experience diverse medical specialities and super specialities. This connection offer significant real life learning opportunity for the pharmacy students. The college currently possesses books in pharmacy and allied health fields, national and international journals with over 4000 books. It also has Online Catalog System that can enable searching of resources including IDIS, Micromedex and DELNET.

Currently the VIPS Bangalore offers two full time programme in the area of pharmacy only. The course of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) has 4 years with an intake capacity of 100 students and the Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma) is of two year duration, with an intake capacity of 60 students. These programmes are intended to give broad education and training in pharmaceutical sciences. The total enrolled student in both programmes is 160 making a total enrolment of 394 in the institute. This suggest that the value is high towards size of class that has to be maintained for efficient learning and practical lessons.

In this case, the admission process for entering the pharmacy degree programmes of VIPS Bangalore is aimed at enrolling high-potential students. Of the test scores for the B.Pharma programme, the institute accepts the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), which is a state level examination that allows admission to professional course. The college has a good infrastructure, laboratories , which supports the modern curriculum , library . The classrooms are spacious, we'll maintained hostels . The hostel provides good quality food.has a vast range of books and also contain computer for collecting information.
