Viva Institute of Applied Art, Palghar, is an affiliated college established in the year 2010. The institute is located at Virar East, Maharashtra. It specializes in the educational streams of fine arts, which came into existence recently due to the All India Council for Technical Education. The institute undertakes the admission of a total enrolment of 225 students and it has 10 faculty members to provide focused learning from the aspiring artists. Presently, there are two BFA programmes available. This fact points out that the institute is serious about nurturing talent in some art genres.
The institute's facilities serve for meeting the artistic as well as intellectual needs of the students. The library, for instance, is full of information. It contains books chosen only from those suggested by the experts of the subjects; in addition to this, it has subscriptions for some of the most respected art journals and periodicals, which are also provided online. The college also boasts of facilities for hands-on learning and state-of-the-art computer labs, housing some of the latest imaging software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Corel Draw, 3D Studio Max, and Flash, so that students keep abreast with the standards set by industry today in digital art and design.
The institute also has an auditorium, equipped with a projector and audio facilities that can accommodate more than 120 students. This campus space is ideal for talks, seminars, and workshops that promote a culture of sharing ideas and discussing art. The campus boasts an all-inclusive canteen with a large menu at very affordable prices to ensure that the students never go without fresh food at any time of the day.
Viva Institute of Applied Art currently offers two full-time BFA programmes: Applied Art and Painting. The intake for the BFA Applied Art programme is 60, while in BFA Painting, the intake is 30. This allows enough time to be completed, but each course takes four years and really gives ample growth of the student's skills, his creative vision, and his overall abilities in the field. These courses are developed with the intent to provide a comprehensive education, hence preparing students for exciting careers in the art world.
