Vivekanand College, Kolhapur, founded in 1964, is one of the most premier educational institutions in the state of Maharashtra, India. This affiliated college has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The college offers a wide variety of programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in different disciplines. Spread over a campus of 7 acres, it has a total student strength of 4,847, with a gender ratio of 49% males and 51% females. It houses 44 dedicated faculty members who help students in their pursuit of knowledge through its 18 courses, with specialisations in Science, Commerce, Arts, and Vocational Studies, under 10 different degrees.

The modern facilities in Vivekanand College also underline its concern for making a student's learning experiences easier. The library, being a very important constituent of academic resources, is housed in an independent three-story building covering 8,800 square feet. The facilities provided include a well-stocked collection, study rooms, and a Virtual Learning Centre that fulfill the requirement for effective learning among students and faculty members. The institution is also duly aware of students who may seek accommodation services; therefore, it has separate hostel accommodations for boys and girls. For instance, the girls' hostel accommodates 200 students in 64 well-furnished rooms divided within two three-story buildings. The campus has an auditorium after the name of the founder of the Sanstha, Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe, which is used to conduct various cultural activities, seminars, and conferences.

Vivekanand College offers a range of courses in both undergraduate and postgraduate streams, including 13 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate programmes. The undergraduate courses comprise conventional B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, professional courses such as BBA and BCA in Self Finance, and new age BVOC in Graphic Design, Foundry Technology, and Animation and Film Making. Some postgraduate courses open for students in the campus are MSc degrees in Organic Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics; MCom and MVoc. This diversified portfolio of courses addresses a wide range of academic interests and career aspirations and, as such, reflects the college's commitment to complete education.

The admission process at Vivekanand College is inclusive and totally based on merit. Though no special entrance examinations are mentioned, the college probably considers academic performance in the qualifying examinations to admit students in different programmes. This lays great importance on financial support, with scholarship data from 2022 showing 2,018 undergraduate students and 166 postgraduate students who were reimbursed, stating the motto of the college: "To make quality education accessible to all."
