Vivekanand College, Kolhapur, founded in 1964, is one of the most premier educational institutions in the state of Maharashtra, India. This affiliated college has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The college offers a wide variety of programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in different disciplines. Spread over a campus of 7 acres, it has a total student enrolment of 4,202, with a gender ratio of 49% males and 51% females. It houses 44 dedicated faculty members who help students in their pursuit of knowledge through its 18 courses, with specializations in Science, Commerce, Arts, and Vocational Studies, under 10 different degrees.
The modern facilities in the Vivekanand College also underpin its concern for making a student's learning experience easy and on hand. The library, being a very important constituent of academic resources, is housed in an independent three-story building covering an area of 8,800 square feet. Vivekanand College offers various courses in both undergraduate and postgraduate streams, and it covers 13 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate courses. The undergraduate courses comprise traditional B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, professional courses such as BBA and BCA in Self Finance, and new age BVOC in Graphic Design, Foundry Technology, and Animation and Film Making. B.Com.: This course under Bachelor of Commerce mainly focuses on business and finance. The students will be selected according to their marks scored in the 12th standard. But they consider more about commerce-related subjects in this case.
B.Sc.: The B.Sc. Programme offers specializations in scientific disciplines. Admission is made on 12th standard marks with particular focus on science subjects. B.Sc. in Computer Science and Biotechnology are offered by the College as self-financed programmes.
BBA Self Finance: The College of BBA programme caters to students interested in management studies. Admission is made on 12th standard marks and may require personal interview also.
BCA Self Finance is designed for candidates interested in Computer Science and Application streams. Admission shall be given at the 12th standard merit basis. Priorities will be given to mathematics and computer science stream students.
B.Voc.: The college provides Bachelor of Vocation courses in Graphic Design, Foundry Technology, and Animation and Film Making. Admission to these skill-based courses is through 12th standard marks and may involve an aptitude test or interview.
M.Sc.: Vivekanand College offers M.Sc. courses in Organic Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Inorganic Chemistry, Statistics, Computer Science, Biotechnology, and Microbiology. Admission is through the marks secured in the relevant bachelor's degree course.
M.Com.: The Master of Commerce program offers specializations in Advanced Accountancy, Advanced Costing, and Business Administration. Admission is based on the marks scored for the B.Com. or an equivalent degree.
M.Voc.: The college offers the Master of Vocation programs in Graphic Design and Foundry Technology. Admission is based on the marks obtained in the relevant bachelor's degree and an interview / Portfolio assessment.
The college has a huge campus. Each department has a different buildings, building is well maintained,it also has a big playground it has a functional lab with working PC's, over all the infrastructure is average.
