Vivekananda College of Education, Mahabubnagar: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Vivekananda College of Education Mahabubnagar, which was started in the year 2000, is an affiliated college located at Chattanpally Village, Farooqnagar Mandal, Rangareddy District, State—TELANGANA. This institution, which is recognised by NCTE, stands for National Council for Teacher Education and it offers teacher education programmes. Located on a five-acre land, the college has two full-time courses admitting 200 students in total and it has the following faculties: 23. The college mainly aims at offering education in the B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. courses for students who wish to be teachers in different schools of the country.

The college has a variety of facilities that are put in place to provide the students with the best facility they can offer. These facilities include the library's reading room, which contains 1,087 titles and 7,025 volumes of books that are readily available for researchers and students. Also included and embedded in every discipline is the provision of subject-based laboratories facilitating necessary practical lessons as constituting part of teacher education. An auditorium is used for holding events and seminars as well as contributing to the rich academic activities of a school. In line with progress in technology, this college has provided sufficient technologies in terms of IT with internet amenities to assure that the students are connected and can obtain necessary information. 

To meet the physical education needs of students in their all-round development, the institution provides sporting amenities. The college also practically has a guest house and a waiting room for the visited teachers and families of students. The college provides medical care in the college’s health centre with basic first aid services for the college community. Also, a canteen at the college level is the convenience store where they get some necessary facilities such as photocopying and stationery, which makes the life of students more colourful and comfortable.

As for the structure of education, Vivekananda College of Education provides its audience with two main courses. Both are daytime or full-time and aimed at affording the students preparation for becoming teachers. The B.Ed course is of 2 years and offers 100 seats for education, although the D.El.Ed course is of one year and has 50 seats for students. These courses take two years for each and have been designed to combine trainings in educational theory and practice as per NCTE norms.

Admissions to Vivekananda College of Education are granted on the basis of merit, which points to the quality of the institution. The admission criteria for the B.Ed. programme are the marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or performance in the entrance test. In this selection process, it follows the policy of the state government, Union Territory administration, and the affiliated university. Likewise, the D.El.Ed. admission rules are based on a merit list, which includes marks from the qualifying examination and/or an entrance test as per the policy framed by the state government/UT administration.
