Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology (VCET), was started during 2001-2002 in Puttur, Karnataka and is affiliated with VTU. VCET has an excellent infrastructure which is established on 25 acres of land and it provides a variety of B.Tech and MBA courses. The institute is approved by AICTE and a total number of students admitted for all courses are 1389 while the number of faculty members is 111. Among the students, 63% are male and 37% are female students Of the total, 95% of the students are from Karnataka and 5% students are from other states. The college has developed 8 courses at 3 degree levels that focus on engineering and management disciplines.
VCET Puttur is well equipped with various facilities that do help the students in their learning process. The college library, which occupies an area of 877 sq.m, has large collection of books and subscribing the most important national and international online journals and databases more than 8600 in number. Being fully computerided with 14 computer system, it avails students e-journals, e-books and other multimedia resources. For physical fitness, the college provides facilities for a gym and games such as a 400-meter athletic track and facilities for indoor and outdoor games.
The institute offers the hostilities form both for boys and girls with all the facilities like 24 hours hot water supply, continuous power, and others enjoyable facilities for games & activities. Internet facilities and connectivity, The whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled and is backed up with a 16 Mbps dedicated leased line . VCET also has up to standard laboratories for practical exercise, an auditorium to hold events and seminars with a seating capacity of 700, and a cafeteria to feed the customers.
VCET Puttur offered courses in total 8, in which six are UG courses (BE) and two are PG courses (MBA & MCA). All of them are day programmes, the BE programmes are for four years and the MBA is for two years. The college offer undergraduate engineering programmes and the total student intake in this level is 420, and out of these programmes, the programme receiving the greatest number of intakes is the Computer Science and Engineering with a total of 120 intakes.
