About Vivekananda School of Information Technology, Delhi

Vivekananda School of Information Technology (VSIT) was set up in 1997 as an affiliated college in Delhi, India. Located in the North Western zone of Delhi on a 5-acre plot, VSIT has been delivering IT education to the B.Tech. students for the last 21 years. The institute offers two primary degree programmes: In the undergraduate level, BCA—Bachelor of Computer Applications is offered, while in the postgraduate level, MCA—Master of Computer Applications is offered. Bearing a faculty of 35 members, VSIT intends to deliver sufficient academic support to their students.

VSIT has got not only sophisticated teaching spaces to fulfil its academic courses. The education resources of the institute are significantly enhanced, possessing a library of more than ten thousand books, including IT, Law, and Journalism resources. It is equipped with air conditioners, a computerised system, an e-library, and book reservations on the internet. Students feel privileged to enjoy qualitive information technology facilities, a properly equipped computerised laboratory with high-standard computers, licenced software, and speedy internet connections. 

It has Wi-Fi connections to enable students to get access to information, basically through technology all over the campus. Class facilities in VSIT include smart and interactive overhead projectors, multimedia projectors, and modern teaching aids. Apart from academic activities, the institute offers sports amenities for outdoor games and indoor games: playing fields for cricket and volleyball; a billiards hall; and a table tennis hall. Students are also able to exercise in a gymnasium if they are interested in the same.

VSIT currently offers two full-time courses: a 3-year BCA programme and a 2-year MCA programme are offered in the college. Its main focus is on delivering quality education to the students in the stream of information technology. The BCA programme provides basic education to students who want to build a career in the IT sector, while the MCA programme comes as an additional course for learners who want to focus more on computer applications.

The admission procedures applied at VSIT differ for its two programmes. The major source of admission in the BCA programme is through the CET merit list. Any remaining seats are then reflected by the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) merit list after the CET list runs out. The MCA programme follows a more structured admission process, with priority given to candidates based on their performance in the following order: However, the entrance examination that one needs to take depends on the following order: NIMCET (National Institute of Technology Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test), CET, & CUET. MCA (Master of Computer Applications): The MCA program is a 2-year full-time postgraduate course with an approved intake of 180 students. The admission process for MCA follows a specific order of priority:

  1. NIMCET (National Institute of Technology Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test)
  2. CET (Common Entrance Test)
  3. CUET (Common University Entrance Test)

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Candidates must appear for NIMCET.
  2. If seats remain vacant after NIMCET counseling, admissions are considered based on CET scores.
  3. Any remaining seats after exhausting the CET merit list are filled through the CUET merit list.
