Vivekanandha Dental College for Women (VDCW), the preeminent dental college, was started in the year 2007 and located in Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu. This affiliated college is recognised by the Dental Council of India and this college is specially meant for women only to provide them dental education. VDCW is spread across 3.22 acres of area and it provides 9 courses at two degree levels and a faculty of 153. The college recruits students from various areas and currently has 535 students, out of which 89% are undergraduates and 11% are postgraduates, with 99.9% of them being from the state.

VDCW’s goal is to be able to offer facilities that will improve the learning abilities of a student. The college boasts of having a well-stocked 8,000-square-foot library and an internet library with over 3000 books and paraphernalia sourced both locally and internationally and online access to over 80 international & national health science journals. Internet access is available twenty-four/seven for all students because the campus is Wi-Fi enabled. To ensure the physicals of the clients are well taken care of, VDCW boasts of ample sporting facilities such as cricket, basketball, volleyball, & football fields, a state-of the art women’s gymnasium, and an air-conditioned gym, among others. The college also possesses a very large 5000-seat auditorium for most of the sectional as well as cultural activities.

Currently, it oversees a full spectrum of dental courses, one undergraduate programme known as BDS and 8 postgraduate disciplines referred to as MDS. BDS has an intake capacity of 100, whereas MDS programmes have a combined intake capacity of twenty in various fields. All of them are day programs; thus, students are trained intensively with in-field practice during their training period. From modern infrastructure to practical exposure to experiences required in dentistry and successful professional careers, the college imbibes a philosophy of excellence.

Again, the admissions of students in VDCW are done based on merit and in cooperation with the legal requirements as provided by the various statutory institutions. As for the BDS programme, admissions are made based on the merit score rank that has been achieved by a student from the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET). On the same basis for MDS programs, the National Eligibility and Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS) Score. This college allows the applicants with the following national-level entrance qualifying tests to apply. A large number of students are local and VDCW is designed to have a strong local focus while still being open to students from other parts of the country.
