VPR College of Education, Kamalapuram, was established in the year 2003 and is an aided college in the district of Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. The co-educational institution is approved by the National Council for Teacher Education and has courses only for the education of teachers. On a compact 1-acre campus, it offers two full-time courses with a total student enrolment of 180. This institute has a faculty strength of 22 members and maintains a good student-to-teacher ratio. VPR College of Education has two major core courses in teacher education, that are, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), which is a two-year full-time programme with 100 students as intake, and the Diploma in Elementary Education, also a two-year course full-time with 50 seats. Both programmes are designed to make students successful teachers, stressing philosophical, sociological, and psychological foundations of education together with practical teaching methodologies.
The admission procedure to both B.Ed and D.Ed courses in VPR College of Education is based on the marks obtained in the state-level entrance examination. Admissions to the B.Ed. programme shall be based on the qualifications obtained by the candidates through the Education Common Entrance Test (Ed.CET) conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The college admits students in accordance with Ed.CET merit following reservation rules into 70% of the seats (100 seats), while the remaining 25% (25 seats) are filled by the management from among Ed.CET qualified candidates. For the D.Ed programme, admission is granted based on DEECET or Diploma in Elementary Education Common Entrance Test. The admission trend in college is the same whereby 80% of the students or 50 seats are taken in through centralised counselling and the remaining 20% is filled by the management with 10 seats. For B.Ed, applicants should have passed a bachelor's degree while for D.Ed, students need to have passed their intermediate education. The college maintains a functioning alumni network to provide connections between former and current students aimed at improving the general experience for students.
