XLRI- Reviews

Good Luck!

Hello! Since XLRI is a private institute, it does not have category wise cut-off. There is a generic cutoff which varies from program to program. To know about last year's XAT cutoff at XLRI, read the below article:

Aim at scoring above 95 percentile to get into BM course.
Sectional wise cutoff and other details are mentioned in the link below:

XAT cutoff

The best part is XLRI does not consider your past academic records as an short-listing/elimination criteria for admissions.

So focus on the exam preparation.
Good luck.

Dear Vartika,

XAT is just a month away thus a 30-day preparation strategy for XAT is what you need at the moment. It is crucial to know the areas you need to focus on and how to move ahead with the preparations.

To begin with, brush up your basics. By now you must have gone through the basics of all the sections of paper 1 and 2.  And if in the past you have had appeared for other MBA exams such as SNAP, CAT and IIFT then I am sure you must be well versed with topics and sections including, LR, DI, Quants and verbal. So now, all you will be left with is other sections and areas to work on. Here the key element is to focus on sharpening the basics of each section.

- Focus on exclusive areas- XAT has exclusive sections such as Essay writing anf GK which requires special preparation.  Vinayak Kudva, Head PG, IMS India mentions, “XAT, in specific, has a section each on general awareness and essay writing. As these are not a part of the CAT or other major tests, students should immediately start practising for these specific topics. As for the rest of the sections, the concepts that students need to learn remains the same, though question types are different.”

-Practice Essay Writing – XAT is one of the few MBA entrance exams which is held in both objective and subjective patterns. You will be given  35 minutes to complete Paper 2, consisting of GK and Essay writing. If you think that you would crack the Essay Writing part with an impromptu attempt, you are wrong. Prepare for the essay writing by reading newspapers regularly and following the current trends, and practice writing within a specific time duration. Time must also be a crucial part of your preparation here, as not only you have to write an essay, you have to complete your GK part as well. The evaluators not only look for language skills, but also check the thought process, ideas, and your knowledge pertaining to the topic. Having a fair knowledge of the contemporary topics will give you an edge. So reading newspapers, especially the editorial columns, is highly advised,” shares Gautam Puri, Vice Chairman, Career Launcher.

  • Verbal and Logical Ability: 7.5 to 8.5

  • Decision Making: 7-8

  • QA and DI: 12-13

Check XAT Analysis and Expected Cutoff

All the best.

Hello Geetanjli! For a better understanding of the colleges in which you can apply you can use the college predictor tool and pathfinder tool of Careers360. Those will guide you in a much better way. Moreover, you will be able to compare in a better way. You can also talk to the experts for better clarification. Moreover, the cutoffs for these two colleges are quite high. I am sorry to say but you won't be able to make it to there. All the best!

Hi

The calls that XLRI gives out is based on the XAT percentile. Clearing both sectional and overall cutoffs will get you calls for the GDPI process of XLRI.

So how well you did there is what matters the most. You will get a call irrespective of your marks. Marks will be considered for final selection only.

The weightage for final selection then takes in XAT and other components, as 60% and 40% for all programs of XLRI. The weightage of GD/PI is 25%. Essay, GK, academic, work-ex, video would constitute another 15%.

Regards
