Hello aspirant, I hope you are doing good.

If you have got 97 percentile in XAT , that's quite good percentile and you have a chances to get calls from XLRI .

There is gap between your 12th and graduation which is not a big deal because many of them ahve this issue.

But make sure to have a genuine and relevant information on why you have these much years gap.

It won't be a problem if you are passing out from XLRI because the Institute has its own reputation. Also, many people have gap between their 12 and graduation and are working successfully. You should get ready for this question to asked in every interview you appear as why there is such a long gap between your 12 and graduation. Other than this, there won't be any problem. The recruiters look out for qualification and the knowledge of the person as the major factors before selecting anyone. And as you mentioned you were doing a full time job and part of volunteering work then it will help you in the interview as you have prior experience of the corporate world.

Hope you are doing well. If you want to get in top most colleges like IIMs, FMS, SPJain. Then you must aim to score around 99 Percentile. And for XLRI you have to appear for xat exam, and your target should be 95+ percentile for that also. Hope it helps You, Good luck.

Yes you can get the admisiion in XLRI if you clear the eligibility:

Eligibility Criteria (For PGDM (Human Resource Management Programme)):-

  • Candidates should be holding a bachelor’s degree of minimum three years from any recognised university.

  • Admission Procedure:-

    • Candidates have to qualify/pass the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) conducted by XLRI or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
    • Candidates will be shortlisted based on the marks in these exams.
    • Shortlisted candidates have to appear in an interview, which is the final stage for the final selection.
  • Eligibility Criteria (For PGDM (Business Management Programme)):-
    • Candidates should be holding a bachelor’s degree of minimum three years from any recognised university.


    • Admission Procedure:-

      • Candidates have to take XAT/GMAT Exams.
      • Shortlisting will happen on the basis of their performance in XAT/GMAT.
      • Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, which is the final stage for admission.
  • Eligibility Criteria (For PGDM (General Management Programme)):-

    • Candidates must be holding a bachelor’s degree of minimum three years in any discipline.
    • Candidates must be employed in a full-time job and must have at least five years of managerial experience in an organisation of repute in the public, private or non-governmental sector as on the last week of March of the admission year.

    • Admission Procedure:-

      • Candidates have to appear in XAT/GMAT, and qualify in the same.
      • Candidates can apply for more than one programme. Such candidates may be called for multiple interviews and group discussions.
      • Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the XAT/GMAT by the last week of January of the admission year.
      • Factors like academic ability and relevant work experience will also be taken into consideration whilst preparing the shortlisted candidates for the interview.
      • Whilst preparing the final selection list after the personal interviews and group discussions, XAT performance, relevant work experience, academic ability, extra-curricular activities etc. are also taken into consideration.
  • Eligibility Criteria Fellow Programme in Management (FPM):-

    • Take XAT and qualify. Eligibility for XAT is as follows-

    • Candidates must be holding a postgraduate diploma from universities with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) with the bachelor's degree/ equivalent qualification with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates).


    • or,

      • Candidates must be holding an Integrated Master's Degree programme in any discipline, with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates), after completing higher secondary education (10+2) or equivalent.

    • or,

      • Candidates must be holding a BE/B.Tech degree or its equivalent with at least 60% marks (50%for SC/ST candidates) with two years of relevant work experience.
    • or,

      • Candidates must be having professional qualification like CA, ICWA or CS with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) may opt for appearing in XAT.
      • Candidates with any of the above qualification may submit UGC JRF/NET; GMAT / GRE / GATE scores for admission to FPM. Such candidates will not have to appear in XAT.
      • Candidates who have done their PGP from XLRI, any IIMs, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, XIM Bhubaneswar, IRMA, S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, School of Management of IITs, TIFR, TISS, ISI and other comparable Institutes with a CQPI of at least 6.000/8.000 or equivalent will not have to appear in the XAT.
    • Admission Procedure:-

      • Candidates have to pay the registration fees for XAT through XAT/GMAT and appear for the same.
      • Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the XAT/GMAT.
      • Plus candidates meeting the eligibility criteria are also eligible for admission through UGC JRF/NET; GMAT / GRE / GATE scores.
      • Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a personal interview for final selection.
    • Eligibility Criteria (For Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EXEC-FPM)):-

      • Candidates must have an MBA / Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or equivalent or GMP/PGPX
    • or,

      • Candidates must have a one-year full-time residential programme in Management with 60% marks. Candidates from Premier B-Schools will be given preference.
      • Candidates must be currently employed in a full-time job.
      • Candidates must have at least five years of full-time executive/managerial/ teaching/research experience as on the last week of March of the admission year.
    • Admission Procedure:-

      • Candidates will have to apply online on the official website and have to submit the information along with the required documents and ‘Statement of Purpose (SOP)’.
      • Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a personal interview for final selection.

Your final conversation will completely depend on your performance in the GD, WAT and PI rounds. 65% weightage  is given to the XAT percentile and the rest on the GD, WAT and PI rounds. You'll have different interviews based on the programs you've applied for. Since your academic record is pretty good so with some extra effort in the selection rounds you can easily get into the college. Moreover XLRI focuses much on general business questions as per the goings on in the economy. So just focus on that and you'll be good to go.

To get admission in Xaviers School Of Management,Jamshedpur,you need to appear for XAT(Xaviers Aptitude Test) which is online mode examination which is conducted every year in January.After appearing for the exam and clearing the exam,you have to appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.You can also opt for multiple course at once and the interview for each course will be conducted separately.

The marks wise cutoff for all XAT based XLRI affiliated colleges been shared below as per 2017 trends:-

  • XLRI HRM - 29 marks
  • XLRI BM - 32 marks
  • XLRI Global - 29 marks
  • XIMB - 28 marks
  • SPJain - 32 marks
  • GIM Goa- 27 marks

  • Great lakes chennai - 27 marks

The cutoffs can vary this year on basis of reservation norms, last year cutoff, number of total seatsand total application received.

You can expect the results on 30th or 31st January. You can check the results from the official website of XLRI Jamshedpur. Once the results are out you may get a call depending on your percentile and previous academic and work record. Subsequently they'll call you for the GD/PI rounds. For PI they expect you to have good knowledge about the business environment of the country. Just be updated with the current economic news and you'll be good to go.

Xavier school of management situated in jamshedpur have library is one of the most extensively stocked libraries and has almost every book an MBA student need.There is a segregation and boys not allowed in the girls hostels .

It a good experience overall.
