YS College, Barnala, was established in 2012 and is a co-educational college situated in Barnala district of Punjab. It is an affiliated college which provides the bachelor programmes for the students of different fields of study. YS College has a faculty strength of 9 efficient members dedicated to teaching their students. The college has 5 degrees to its participants in various fields of information technology, commerce, and mass communication. 

YS College also has a number of resources required for the effective learning process with reference to current facilities. A learning library is a centre of knowledge with adequate provision of books, journals, periodicals etc. which are replenished from time to time to fit the changing needs of students and faculty. The library is effectively stocked with the latest books dealing with the courses and practical equipment in the computer centre in order to provide state of the art technology. For the students’ extra co-curricular activities as well as events, there is a fully conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 400 with quality lights & sound facilities. English communication skill lab is helpful for enthusiasts of the language, where the lab provides different exercises of reading, writing, listening and speaking in English.

YS College, Barnala provides fives full time under graduate courses. These programmes are across various discipline such as Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Bachelors of Science in Information Technology (B.Sc IT), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) and Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. The college has a total provisional MCA, BCA, B.Sc IT, B.Com (Honours) and BA in Journalism and Mass Communication admission capacity of 240 seats ie. 60 each. 

Most of the admission in YS College, Barnala is given according to merit so that deserving students can enrol in the programmes they wish to. For all the courses, B.Sc Information Technology, BCA, B.Com, B.Com (Honours) and BA in Journalism and Mass Communication, admission is done on merit of the candidates only. After a student has met the initial admission requirement based on merit, he or she undergoes an interview. This interview provides the college a chance to assess qualification of the candidate in general and particularly in relation to the course of their choice. Thus, the process of choosing students through the academic achievements and personal contact provides an opportunity to select candidates, who can be successful in academic process and chosen programmes, as far as they are motivated and possess necessary skills.
