Hello student
Unfortunately, as of now, there seems to be no UGC DEB-approved institute offering a Bachelor of Arts in Bengali Honours in Online Distance Learning mode.
Why the Difficulty?
Language Specialization: Bengali, being a regional language, might have limited reach and demand for online programs compared to more widely spoken languages.
Depth of Study: Honours programs typically require in-depth study and interaction, which might be challenging to replicate effectively in an online distance learning format.
Regulatory Constraints: The specific requirements for offering language-specific honours programs in online mode might not align with current UGC DEB regulations.
Potential Alternatives
While this is disappointing news, consider these alternatives:
Regular Online Bengali Courses: Some universities might offer standalone Bengali language courses or certificates.
Traditional Distance Learning: There might be institutes offering Bengali Honours through traditional distance learning, involving postal study materials and limited contact sessions.
Regular On-Campus Programs: If possible, consider relocating for a traditional on-campus Bengali Honours program.
Online Language Learning Platforms: Platforms like Duolingo, Memrise, or online language tutors can help you learn Bengali independently.
Checking for Updates
It's advisable to check the UGC DEB website regularly for updates. New programs and approvals are announced periodically.

Would you like to explore any of these alternatives further? Or perhaps you'd like to consider other language options or degree programs?
Hello Aspirant
Yes, you can definitely pursue an MA in Bengali even if your undergraduate degree was in English and earned through distance learning.
The eligibility criteria for an MA program is that you should have a bachelor's degree in any subject. So, your BA in English, regardless of the mode of study, qualifies you for admission to an MA in Bengali. A degree in bachelor's via distance education holds the same validity as a distance education's degree.
However, because this is a specialization in a language, some universities/colleges may ask for proficiency in that language, which I presume you have because you chose a specific language course's master's degree.
Hope this helps
Hello student
Yes you can speak Bengali in your class if no one has any objection because maybe everyone will have trouble understanding your language. So if any language is used in your class then you can definitely speak it. But further it depends on your school and class.
