Hindi: There are 22 languages in our country. One of the languages which are both culturally and traditionally important is the Hindi language. Hindi is one of India’s official languages. Most CBSE schools offer Hindi as their second language option. Students who wish to learn Hindi, take it up as their second language. This helps them be efficient in the language and at the same time, easy to travel anywhere in India. Students also have the opportunity to learn the subject in detail at under graduation and post-graduation level. If they wish to pursue it further, they can pursue a Doctorate in Hindi.
Irrespective of the level one wishes to take up, there are job opportunities for all those who take up Hindi as their stream in college. As mentioned earlier, there are two main levels and one optional level of the course they are:
Bachelor of Arts in Hindi - The course duration is 3 years, and there are many colleges all over India that provide this course.
Master of Arts in Hindi- It is a 2-year course on completing which you can get placed in top companies as interpreters and also as assistant professors in college/university.
Doctorate/PhD in Hindi
The eligibility criteria of the course also depend upon the university/college. The basic criteria of the Hindi course is as follows:
Under Graduation course
Candidates who wish to pursue the graduation course in Hindi should have completed 10 + 2 from a recognized board with Hindi as major.
He/she needs to have a grade percentile, which is preferred by the university/college.
The passing percentile depends upon college/university. Usually, the minimum passing percentile is around 45-55%.
The candidates who wish to pursue graduation in Hindi should also pass the entrance exam conducted by the university/college. For example, JSAT, BHU-UET.
Post Graduation course
The candidates who wish to pursue Master of Hindi should hold a degree from a recognized university in the subject.
He/she has to have a required percentile in the subject as per the University/college guidelines.
Entrance exams for Hindi course
Undergraduate course
BHU-UET: It is an undergraduate entrance test which is conducted by Banaras Hindu University for admission of students in courses they offer.
JSAT: The entrance exam is conducted by O.P. Jindal Global University as a screening test for the admissions for their undergraduate programs.
JNUEE: The entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for students who wish to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate level courses.
Post Graduate course
DUET: The DUET is conducted by Delhi University for students who are seeking to learn the UG, PG courses.
Thus, the most entrance exam for Hindi courses depends upon the university/college concerned.
When you take up a course in Hindi, there are a lot of scopes as it is our national language. No matter where you travel to in India you will be able to handle the language as Hindi is the base language for a substantial number of other languages. There is a separate subject-wise paper in UGC NET exam.it involves two papers in this exam and different types of questions are asked in both of them. However, in Paper 2, the candidate has to choose the subject of his post graduation or related subject as you want to give exam in hindi so there is one paper of hindi subject which contains 100 questions are asked in the second question paper of 200 marks.
Moreover,in paper 1 you have to answer Logical reasoning questions and teaching concepts which has 50 questions for 100 marks.
