Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Furniture and Interior Design
Undergraduate Degree Eligibility
Students must have cleared their 10 and 12 with a minimum of 60% marks. The pass percentage is less for students from reserved category. Students from science/commerce/arts or any other stream are eligible.
Some colleges demand students with mathematics and physics as additional subjects in high school.
National level entrance examinations are conducted to get admissions in top institutes of the country.

Postgraduate Degree Eligibility
Graduation must have been completed in any stream from a recognized university.
45-50% of marks in graduation are necessary. Marks less than that are not eligible.
Performance of the candidate in the entrance examination is considered for admission.
After successful completion of the entrance examination, a personal interview is conducted. Then, candidates are given admission to postgraduate design courses.
Entrance Exam for Furniture and Interior Design
NID DAT- National Institute of Design conducts DAT entrance examination for granting admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate design courses. NID conducts two admission tests NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains. A NID DAT prelim is a written exam whereas NID DAT main is a studio test and interview round. There are only a limited number of seats in NID, hence, the competition is heavy.
UCEED- Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination is an entrance exam which is conducted by IIT Bombay to shortlist aspirants for bachelor design courses. Four IITs and 22 other colleges accept UCEED scores and grant admissions to students. It is conducted once a year and candidates can attempt twice in consecutive years.
CEED- Common Entrance Examination for Design is written by students who want to do postgraduate studies in technological design. It has two parts; part A and B. Candidates have to clear both to qualify for the admission process. It is conducted online for 3 hours and students who clear get admission to postgraduate studies in IITs and other colleges participating in CEED.
NIFT- National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts examinations to offer bachelor and master design courses. It is an offline examination usually conducted in January. The duration of the exam for design courses is 2 hours and MCQ based.
