Furniture Design students must meet certain basic prerequisites in order to be admitted to the college of their choosing. This is the absolute minimum that the student must achieve; else, his or her application will be rejected. The requirements for enrolling in a Furniture Design programme are as follows:
The candidate should have passed 12 std from a recognized board of education. No matter the stream in which the candidate has chosen in 12th, the undergraduate courses only demand a decent pass percentile in class 12.
The candidates are shortlisted as per the performance in the qualifying examination or as per the scores in the entrance examination conducted by the colleges.
AIEED: Arch college of design and business conducts the All India Entrance Examination for Design to offer admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate design courses. It is an online examination that comprises two phases, Stage I and Stage II. The students must have cleared 10, 12+ classes to be eligible for admissions. Candidates who have a valid NATA score or AIEEE rank can apply directly and get admitted without AIEED. All students from 16 years and above can apply.
UCEED: Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is conducted by IITs to get admitted into design courses in IIT campuses. This national level examination is conducted once a year online. The duration of the exam is 3 hours.
Candidates who apply for a post-graduation degree must possess a graduation degree in the relevant field.
Those who don’t have a degree in the relevant field can also apply. But, a graduation degree in design is preferred by top design colleges.
NID DAT:NID Design Aptitude Test is an exam through which candidates are selected for undergraduate and postgraduate design courses in NID (National Institute Design) campuses. Two NID admission tests have to be cleared to enter into Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) courses. Undergraduate courses are for 3 hours and postgraduate is for 2 hours and 30 minutes. The mode of examination is offline.
NIFT: National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts the NIFT entrance exam to select students for Undergraduate and Postgraduate design courses. The exam takes place only once in a year offline. Those who clear will get admission in one of the 16 NIFTs.

SEED: Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design is a university level entrance exam conducted to offer admissions to SIU (Symbiosis Institute of Technology) affiliated colleges. It is conducted online. Applicants should have passed class 12 to appear in SET.
