What does a safety and fire engineer graduate do?
A fire and safety engineer (also known as a fire protection engineer) works to prevent fire damage and protect people from fires by recommending fire resistant or retardant materials to use along with suggesting fire-detection equipment. Eligibility Criteria for admission in Diploma in Safety and Fire Engineering: Candidates qualifying 10+2 examinations, with passing 12th grade in any relevant discipline of Commerce/Science/Arts with a minimum aggregate listed from a recognized board is a prerequisite for admission. There is no entrance examination or GD/PI held for the course.
Eligibility Criteria for admission in B.Tech in Safety and Fire Engineering: Candidates enrolling for B.Tech in Safety and Fire Engineering are required to pass the Senior Secondary level examination (10+2) with Physics, Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Computer as optional subject securing a minimum of 50% marks belonging to General Category (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC category) from any recognized Board or Council.
Eligibility Criteria for admission in B.E. in Safety and Fire Engineering: Candidates who have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with 55% of marks in physics, chemistry, and mathematics subjects from a recognized board are eligible for this course. The percentage may vary from one college to another. Eligible candidates may apply for this course through online/offline at official websites of the college or admission office.
Eligibility Criteria for admission in M.Tech in Safety and Fire Engineering: Aspirants must have passed their 10+2 examination from a recognised school. Candidates must have completed their graduation with BE/BTech in fire and safety engineering from a recognized university and should have secured aggregate marks of 50% to 60% in their bachelor studies.

Admission Process for Fire and Safety Engineering
For Diploma in fire and safety engineering: Admission to Diploma in Fire and Safety Management course is done solely on the basis of merit list. The marks obtained in the 12th grade lays the grounds for qualifying for admission to the program. However, the merit list cut-off marks will differ from institution to institution. Applicants can apply for the course both through online and offline mode by directly logging into the college’s official website.
For B.Tech in fire and safety engineering: Admission in B.Tech is done through entrance tests conducted either by the university or national level entrance examinations such as AIEEE or JEE. In a few cases, there is an option for direct admission via merit list considering the marks obtained in a Senior Secondary examination. Students have to go through the counselling sessions, once they are eligible for the admission.
For B.E. in fire and safety engineering: Admission to this course is based on merit-list or entrance-based followed by the personal interview. Most of the colleges select students based on the marks obtained in their 10+2 examination. Some reputable colleges conduct entrance exam along with the personal interview for admissions. Based on the student’s performance in an entrance exam and the personal interview, they will be selected to join this course in reputed colleges/institutes.
For M.Tech in fire and safety engineering: The admission process to M.Tech in Marine engineering is based on either the GATE Exam and its score or personal Interview and group discussion.
For M.E. in fire and safety engineering: Candidates seeking admission for this course must have a Bachelor’s degree in B.Tech or B.E. with an aggregate of 55%. Entrance exams such as GATE are conducted for admission in IITs (Indian Institute of Technology).
Top Entrance Exams for Fire and Safety Engineering
JEE Main:- JEE Main has two papers, paper 1 and paper 2. Candidates may opt for either one of the papers or both per their choices respectively. Paper-1 is for admission to B.E./B.Tech courses are conducted only online. Paper-2 is for admission in B.Arch and B. Planning courses and is conducted only offline. The similarity between the two of them is that the question contains only multiple-choice questions. JEE Main has a fixed exam structure and is not subject to change every year.
Some of the key changes in JEE Main (2020) are mentioned below:-
From 2020 onwards, JEE Main will have three papers, one for B.Tech, second for B.Arch, and the third examination will be separately conducted for B.Planning.
The number of questions has been reduced from 90 to 75 for each paper. It means that the students have to attempt 5 fewer questions from each section of the paper.
Each section of the exam will have 25 questions carrying equal weightage to all. Though from this time onwards, 20 questions will be multiple choice questions and 5 questions will be numerically based.
There will be negative marking for MCQs but numerical questions will not follow the negative mark scheme.
The B.Planning paper will have three parts, Mathematics, Aptitude and planning based objective questions.
The newly introduced B.Planning exam will be of 400 marks with a total of 100 questions.
The drawing part of the B.Arch examination which carried 3 questions up until 2019 will now have 2 questions carrying 100 marks.
From this year onwards, candidates having a smaller number of negative responses will get an advantage in case there is a tie score.
From this year onwards, NTA has set up more than 3400 practice centres in the country for the preparation of the exam.
JEE Advanced:- Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) Advanced is viable for the students who qualify the JEE Main examination. Therefore, a student needs to be thorough with their topics before attempting the JEE Advanced examination.
Some key changes in JEE Advanced (2020) are mentioned below:-
A total of 2.5 lakhs Aspirants will qualify for writing JEE Advanced. Last year, 2.24 lakhs students qualified for writing JEE Advanced (2020).
As per the new format types of questions will be more descriptive.
For the first time reservation for the PwD category has been raised from 3% to 5%.
UPESEAT Entrance Exam:- For admission into b tech programs, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies(UPES), Dehradun conducts its own aptitude based entrance examination. The last date for the submission of the online applications is May 3, 2020.

NATA:- National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is a national level entrance examination. Through this exam, admission will be offered to 5 years Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) across India. The exam will be conducted by the Council of Architecture (COA). Many private or government universities and institutes consider NATA scores to provide admission in Architecture courses.
Highlights about NATA:
The online application form was available from February 1st,2020.
The last date of submitting the application form was April 15th, 2020.
The exam will be conducted through online mode and part A will be based on a drawing test (pen paper-based).
Total time duration will be 3 hours & 15 minutes. 45 minutes for the aptitude section and 135 minutes for the drawing section.
The question paper will consist of 125 marks.
The exam will comprise of two sections, i.e. Aptitude Section & Drawing Section.
1.5 marks will be awarded for each correct answer (MCQ section).
There will be no negative marking in the exam.
