Hope you are doing good. As per rules, to be a graduate in engineering, you need a minimum of 180 credits. Therefore, you can choose to have more than 180 credits but a minimum of 180 is a must. In accordance with this rule, SRM Chennai and LPU both issues 180 total credits to a student irrespective of the engineering branch you belong to.

Also do note that in SRM, these credit system is flexible that is you can choose how many credits you want to keep in each semester.

Automobile engineering is simply vehicle engineering. It is the branch of engineering which deals with designing, manufacturing, mechanical mechanisms as well operations of automobiles. There are many disciplines in automobile engineering.

Some college have their own entrance examination while most of the colleges offering Automobile Engineering courses admit students on the basis of National or state level engineering exams.

You would say complete your education, get a job, buy a House, "Own a Car", so on and so forth. So you want to own a car. And as of January 1st, 2020, India's population stands at 1,387,297,452. This means the designing, developing, fabricating and testing vehicles and vehicle components falls under Automotive Engineering. This also includes Electric vehicles. Now what you study in theory might be different from what you face on the field. You will be made ready to face the electric vehicles but the practical exposure is what makes you better and dealing with these. So a million of vehicles means lot many opportunities in the fields of designing, manufacturing, developing, fabricating and testing vehicles. We might see new companies coming up and we might also see more companies visiting India to expand their business. There might be new designations that might come up based on the requirement of the job to be done. Remember how the Ambassador car was the official car for India and then it has been replaced? That will be the same. Vehicles will be upgraded based on the technology which means an automobile engineer will have more opportunities than ever.
