All The Best!!
biochemistry or bioinformatics which is better to do PG
Generally bioinformatics course is preferred for pg as it covers all the aspects of biochemistry as it have QSAR , clinical biochemistry, biomolecular simulations , molecular biophysics , genomics ,etc.
And the best part is that every lab requires a bioinformatician so there is a wide scope in government as well as private sector . But at last it will be your decision to choose the one which you find more interesting.
Hope it helps..
Sir, i have completed my BE in Bio-Informatics, Savitha Institue, Chennai. Am i eligible for MTech - Computer Science through GATE, i will have to chose Biotechnology paper in GATE entrance exam, after securing a good rank in GATE exam, am i eligible to take Mtech in Computer science? please help
Hello Aspirant,
Yes, you are definitely eligible for M.Tech in CSE even after having done your B.Tech in Bio-Informatics. Although it might be challenging but with hard work and proper strategy it can definitely be done.
Now, in order to pursue your M.Tech in CSE, you need to write your GATE paper in CSE and NOT Biotechnology. After that, the competition is similar to that of any CSE aspirant only that you need to cover the entire 4-year CSE B.Tech syllabus for GATE.
Hope this was helpful.

hi,
see you can not take admission in m.tech computers science by appearing in gate exam on biotechnology or any others field. you have to take cse as gate paper to pursue m.tech in cs related field.
students are eligible to participate in gate exam irrespective of their bachelors stream of education. even if you have studied biotechnology, you may select cs paper in gate exam to obtain m.tech course.
hope you understand.
In sastra For bioinformatics we can get placed with in tamilnadu right?
Hi Sherin!
No doubt Sastra University provides good placement opportunities to students. Many companies such as Accenture, Mu Sigma, Flipkart, Wipro, microsoft , TCS, FreshDesk, Zoho, Intel, Ford, Boeing , Paypal, Oracle, etc. many companies visit the campus with average salary package between 5-6 LPA and highest salary package upto 25 LPA.
But there is no surety if company puts you in the headquarters or branch of its company. So, if a company in which you get placed has any of its office in Tamilnadu then there are chances that you will get placed in that region, otherwise it could be anywhere.
Thankyou!
i have got admission in cs btech in bioinformatics in vellore ,i was more interested in cs program and dont want to pursue my future in bioinformatics ,do i have other options to get jobs in college placement but not related to bioinformatics
Hi aspirant,
There are no problems if you don't want to pursue your career in bioinformatics, under the mentioned program you will be taught all the subjects that are taught to a core CSE student. So at the time of placements where hundreds of tech companies visit here, you can sit with others for joint placements. Further more you can select which subjects you want to study in elective part remember core students too have to select some specializations as electives from second semester. But you can't drop bioinformatics as a subject unless you successfully migrate from one course to other.
Program migration is also a remarkable feature at Vellore Institute of technology, where you can change your branch by doing very well at the ends of first and second semester respectively. The number of migrants allowed is about the 10-20 percent of the total strength in a particular course.
Hope it helps!!

my stream 1 tn rank is 5000 and stream 2 tn rank is 6000 will i get a seat in sastra University mechatronics, biotechnology, civil, biomedical, bioinformatics or aerospace engineering plss reply ???
Hello,
SASTRA take admission for stream 1 it take admission based on 12th percentage and score of JEE mains and for stream 2 based on the normalized aggregated marks +2 or its equivalent marks. This is for 30% of the total seat.
A first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained 100% mark and aggregate mark of all other students of the board is normalized with reference to that of the first rank student. For example, if the first rank is 97% and an applicant’s aggregate is 90% then the applicant’s normalized percentage is 92.78 (90/97 x 100).

What is Bio-informatics and eligibility for the Undergraduate Program ?
Hello,
Bioinformatics is a branch that deals with the hand in hand learning and development of the fields of CSE as well as statistics to process information dealing with biology
This uses such tools to make further advancements in biology as well as process & store data related to it this course is one that gives you a holistic study of several different fields within one degree
For the UG Program
50 percent aggregate marks in the 10 + 2 in the fields of PCM or PCB and some universities expect the writing of their own entrance test or any other national entrance test such as NEET
In this case of non - medical background students admission is offered on the basis ranking of jee exam
