is bsc with maths physics and geology good for competitive exams like UPSC and CDS?
Hello,
The eligibility criteria for both UPSC and CDS is Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised university,(few of the posts have seperate eligibility like having maths and physics to opt for Air force etc) and in both these exams people from diverse backgrounds appear and qualify, now coming from Maths Background will help you in CDS ( Quantitative aptitude ) and even in UPSC you can have it as optional subject in Mains which is the second stage of UPSC Civil Service Exam. Of course there are other subjects involve too, which you have to study, the syllabus of UPSC is comparatively extensive to that of CDS.
Hope this will help you !
All the best !
After completing the CDS exam (UPSE) at the age of 23, should I opt for IMA or OTA?
Hi,
According to the eligibility criteria for CDS exam attempters in certain domains, these are the age guidelines -
- For IMA – Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1999 and not later than 1st January, 2004 only are eligible.
- Officers' Training Academy (Men's SSC Course) - Only unmarried male candidates born between January 2nd, 1998 and January 1st, 2004 are eligible.
Therefore, you are eligible for both of the posts according to your current age.
To decide between the two, you should check out more criteria mentioned in the official notification regarding the candidate's age:
- Candidates under the age of 25 must be unmarried. During training, marriage is not permitted. Married candidates over the age of 25 are eligible to apply, but they will not be provided with married housing and will not be permitted to live with family outside of the premises during the training period.
- Candidates should be aware that the Commission will only accept the Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate on the date of application submission, and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

after graduation do class 12 marks matter in defence exam(afcat, cds, inet) please tell..
Hi,
For AFCAT, there is no such requirement of an overall percentage but you must have scored above 60% aggregate in Physics and Mathematics individually.
When it comes to CDS, there is no lower limit for your score in 12th grade but you must have Mathematics and Physics as subjects at 10 + 2 level.
For INET, candidates need to have a score of 60% in their 10th and 12th grade examinations to be able to apply for the exam.
Hope this cleared your doubt.

It doesn't matter whether you have a general degree course or a specialized course at graduation level, if you fall within the age bracket of the post then you're eligible for IMA and OTA, for the other two posts the requirements in terms of educational qualifications are different which you don't fulfill, hence not eligible to apply for the same, explore more detailed information regarding this by visiting our page at https://competition.careers360.com/articles/cds-eligibility-criteria

There is no limit on number of attempts when it comes to CDS exam other than the age limit.
For SSC, the age criteria has been mentioned to be 18 to 32 year-old. Only graduate students can apply for this exam.

I was born on 17th of October 1998 will be eligible for cds 1 2023?
Hey there!
As per the Union public service commission, the candidates should meet the eligibility requirements to apply for CDS exam. It is conducted twice in a year.
Your D.O.B. is 17-10-1998, so, your age as on January 2023 would be 24 years and 3 months.
Following are the age limit to appear for CDS exam:
- For IMA- 19-24 years
- INA/ AIR FORCE ACADEMY- 19-23 years
- Officer's training academy- 19-25 years
I'm not considering the date of exam, but if your age criteria fulfils the above mentioned age limit, then you are eligible for CDS 1 2023 in the respective fields.

Good luck.
my dob is 19/9/2002 completing my graduation by June 25/2026 how many attempts I have left for cds ota till 2026 please!
Hi student,
Firstly there is no limit on the number of attempts for CDS (OTA). Secondly, there is a requirement that your degree must have been completed when you'll be commencing your CDA (OTA)'s course. Meanwhile, you can apply for the exam while in the final year of your graduation.
The age limit for your course, that is, CDS (OTA) is 19-25 years, inclusive of both. Also, it conducts 2 exams per year.
So according to this, you can apply in your final year, two times a year and even after finishing your degree, you will be still left with 2 more attempts as per your age limit.
In totality, you have 2 attempts till 2026, but you can still pull up to 2 more attempts because of your age.
Hope this helped.
BA,BFA,B.com which is good for upse exam for CDS
Hello,
If you want to further your career by passing the CDS test, the BA will be a better choice than the BCom.
Due to the fact that UPSC organises three distinct tests.
EXAM-I Elementary mathematics ; EXAM-II English ; EXAM-III General studies
Therefore, if you choose to pursue a BA as your degree, you will benefit from the opportunity to study for your third test concurrently with graduation.
However, you should pick your exam subjects carefully because sociology and other topics won't help you reach your goals.
I assure you that the CDS's general knowledge questions are challenging.
Thank You
