which stream should I take if in want to give CDS exam
Hello User,
Hope you are doing well.
Specifically there is no requirement of choosing any particular subject for CDS in graduation Beacuse it is conducted by UPSC so you need to have all your basics till 12th clear . Afterall you need to focus on all the subjects equally in order to clear the exam. Maths and english should be given more emphasis for CDS exams because these two subjects have more weightage.
As per me the best graduation stream can be arts.
The paper consist of 3 parts.
English (easy)
General knowledge (tough) and
Maths (moderate needs fast calculation speed)
And the subjects you can choose to study should be:-
- Political science
- History , geography , economic
- Apart from this having a science background in 12th is a benefit cause question from maths, phy, chem & bio are asked .
- And have a reading habit of english literature.
Hope this will help you...Good Luck!

by giving CDs can i go directly to ota
Hello User,
hope you are doing well.
Yes,by giving CDS you can go directly to OTA.
You can apply for IMA and OTA through the CDS exam. While filling the form you will be asked to give preferences of your choice of academies mentioned there (IMA/ INA/AFA/OTA). Preference once given cannot be changed under any circumstances.
IMA/INA/AFA has 3 exams namely- English,GK, Maths &
OTA has 2 exams - English & GK.
If you clear the cut off of the most preferred academy then you will be given a call letter for SSB for the same. If you happen to not clear Maths exam in the CDSE then you will be directly given OTA (provided you clear the cut off of OTA).
Hope this will clear your query...Good Luck!

if i take commerce in my 11 and 12 can i give CDS exam for army
Hi there.
The UPSC schedules the CDS Exam (Combined Defence Services) twice a year. Candidates must meet a variety of qualifying requirements, including those related to their country, level of education, age, marital status, and physical health. Candidates taking the CDS Exam must have earned their diploma or at the very least be taking the degree's final exam.
Graduation, which can be in any area, is required for CDS eligibility. Your stream of graduation will definitely influence your choice of force, but you can still apply.
Because physics and math are required for admission to the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, respectively, a commerce student cannot apply to either service, but that is not the same with army , hence a commerce student can apply.
If I take commerce in my 11th and 12th can i give CDS exam for army

I was born on 26-10-2002 and I am aiming for cds ota exam ,so how many attempts can give ?
Hi Sunny
Its a great honor and pride to serve your nation as a uniformed personnel or a military man kudos to your choice. As you might be already aware that CDS OTA examination is for the recruitment for officers into Indian Army for Short Service Commission and thereafter you can get extension of 4 years and if you want to serve more then you can opt for permanent commission too.
Now considering you eligibility and attempts there is a good news that there are no number of fixed attempts for CDS examination and all you need to have is just your graduation and you age should not be less than 19 and more than 25 and you are good to go. CDS is conducted twice a year and if your current age as you mentioned here is almost 20 then you are eligible given you have a degree from UGC recognised university and there are no fixed attempts for CDS examination you can give it as many times you wish given you are not above 25.
I hope this answer helps and best of luck!!
