Hello,
Yes, BSc in Computer Science is a very popular undergraduate program and available in many universities and colleges across India. It focuses on subjects like programming, data structures, algorithms, databases, and computer networks. If you're interested in IT or tech careers but not keen on engineering, BSc CS is a great choice. You’ll find it in central universities, state universities, and even private institutions. Some well-known universities for this course include Delhi University, BHU, Pune University, and many state colleges. Just check the eligibility most colleges ask for Maths as a subject in your class 12 , but a few may allow it with PCM or even PCB.
Wishing you all the best!
A 5800 rank in Telangana POLYCET, along with an EWS certificate, is very good for getting a seat in a government college. You can use your EWS certificate to claim a 10% reservation in government educational institutions in Telangana.
For example, recent closing ranks for Mechanical Engineering at Government Polytechnic Masab Tank were around 9309.so there is bright chance.
I hope you got your answer..

Hello aspirant, Yes, you can get admission to a Diploma in Computer Science after 12th in some colleges, especially private polytechnic institutes or in states that allow lateral or direct entry based on 12th marks. However, in most government polytechnic colleges, admission is usually based on entrance exams or 10th standard marks, not 12th. Some states may allow 12th science students (especially with PCM) to apply directly into the second year through lateral entry schemes.
The cutoff for M.Tech in Computer Science Engineering at Vignan's LARA Institute of Technology & Science for 2024 is not explicitly mentioned However, the search results do provide information on B.Tech cutoffs for various branches, including Computer Science and Engineering, as well as information on M.Tech admissions based on GATE scores and AP PGECET.
B.Tech Cutoffs:
B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering:
The cutoff rank for B.Tech in CSE at Vignan's LARA was 15955 in 2024 for the General (OC) category.
B.Tech in CSE-Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning:
The cutoff for this specialization was 16910 for male candidates and 25162 for female candidates in the General (OC) category,
B.Tech in CSE-Artificial Intelligence:
The cutoff for this specialization was 20076 for male candidates and 23052 for female candidates in the General (OC) category,
M.Tech Admissions:
Admission to M.Tech courses at Vignan's LARA is based on valid GATE scores or performance in the AP PGECET entrance examination, followed by counseling,
Candidates must have passed B.E./B.Tech in a relevant stream with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories),
To get into Computer Science, you should score at least 60 to 75 percent in the 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. But for top colleges, higher marks like 90 percent or more may be needed.
Yes, it is possible for an SC category student with an 84.60% in 10th grade to be selected for computer engineering, but it's not a direct admission based on 10th marks. Admission to computer engineering, especially at the IIT level, usually requires completing 12th grade with specific science subjects and securing a good rank in the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). The 10th-grade marks are a prerequisite for appearing in the 12th-grade board exams and the JEE.
Hello Aspirant,
Yes, as an SC category student with 84.60% in Class 10, you are eligible and have a strong chance of getting admission into Computer Engineering, especially through diploma courses. Most state government and private polytechnic institutes offer admission to diploma in Computer Engineering based on Class 10 marks, and your high percentage along with the reservation category increases your chances significantly. You can apply through your state’s Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) counselling portal. Later, if you wish to pursue B.Tech, you can either take admission after completing Class 12 (with PCM subjects) through entrance exams like JEE Main or your state CET, or opt for lateral entry after completing your diploma. Many states also offer relaxation in cutoffs and fee concessions for SC category students, which will further help you in the admission process. So yes, with your marks and category, getting admission into Computer Engineering is very much possible.
All the best for your career ahead.
