Dear Candidate, admission in Delhi University is based on the percentage of your best 4 subjects not in one particular subject.
Here's attaching a link for your help.
All the best for the future!
can I include hindi elective and english core in my best 4for bcom program also??
As per the UGC guidelines, for any UG non professional course, one have to take a compulsory language paper which can be any as per the offer and the options available by the college or university. Now if you are doing BCOM then in the core there will be subjects of commerce but in the elective if you university allows then you can include although if you have so much interest in language then it would be a better option for you to opt BA as a course.

my marks in 12th CBSE are as follows: English Core - 96 Hindi Core - 98 Mathematics - 98 Physics- 83 Chemistry -94 Can someone please help me to calculate best four for BA programme for Delhi university. Can I take both English and Hindi core for the calculation of best four for BA programme?
Hello Student
The process of calculating the best four subjects for BA under Delhi University e2 language papers should not be in calculated. Either Hindi or English should be take into account for calculating best 4 subjects in BA course of Delhi University.
Best 4 subjects will be calculated as one language subject and 3 main subjects from compulsory subjects. Students have to take up two academic/elective subjects from the list A and B. Total marks in core subjects should be decided by total number of subjects taken
Hope this helps.
I completed my 12th through science stream and I want to apply for BA programme in DU. Can I take both English core and Hindi Core in calculation of best four marks for ba programme? Does their any deduction of marks ??
Hi Aspirant!
According to the rules for calculation of best of four marks to get admission in DU:
- Candidate need to select one language (core/elective subject)
- One subject in which you are seeking admission. For example: if you are seeking admission in BA Hindi then you need to include Hindi as best of four marks or so.
- If you do not include previously mentioned subject then 2.5% deduction of total marks will be imposed to you.
- Other two subjects can be selected from LIST A . List A includes hindi, mathematics, geography, computer science, arabic, commerce, french, physical education, punjabi, statistics, history, bengali, music, physics, sanskrit, urdu, botany, economics, geology, home science, political science, persian, sociology, zoology, chemistry, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Philosophy, Psychology and Legal Studies.

I got 92 marks in english core, 93 in chemistry,93 in biology, 80 in physics, and 98 in music vocal. Can I get admission in DU for Bsc.hons.courses?Will my optional subject marks caluculated in best 4 subject?
Hello Aspirant,
Since you don't have mathematics in class 12th , you won't be able to pursue certain courses like mathematics hons, physics hons, chemistry hons, for that you need mathematics as a compulsory subject in 12th class. You can purse other courses related to Biology. And about your optional subject, it can be included but you'll have to face deduction from your percentage of 2-2.5%. if the subject is in List B then 2% will be deducted otherwise 2.5% will be deducted. So do check the Subject Lists A and B carefully.

Can I count fine arts/paintings marks in best of four while applying to St. Stephens for ba hons philosophy (specifically asking)? Im having english core with pcm & fine arts as my current subjects in grade 12.
Best four subjects in DU need to have a minimum of 70% theory component in the exam.
The process to calculate DU best of four is straightforward. The university evaluates the highest scores of the top four subjects any candidate has obtained in their qualifying exam.
Further, when calculating the DU best of four marks, take up two academic/elective subjects from List A and List B. In case you have selected any course that is not included in list A or list B, there is a clear disadvantage of 2.5% marks.
You cannot apply for Philosophy Hons. because the eligibility criteria requires a candidate to have studied philosophy as a subject in qualifying exam.

Hello,
The marks only shows your efforts and dedication towards that particular exam and choosing a carrier is completely a different part so the choices you should make depending on your interest in some of the field, now for engineering there are some of the best competitive exams like JEE and state level entrance exam which helps you to get college and for pursuing a carrier in medicine you can give competitive exams like NEET and get into some of the best MBBS government colleges.
Thank you..
