I got- 71.4% in 12th 92% in 11th 85% in graduation(BTECH) What is the average work experience would give me good credit points and with such a low % in 12th will I get top IIMs.
Hello Aspirant,
Hope you are doing well...
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) is a group of prestigious management institutions of India. According to the NIRF 2020 report, the top 5 IIMs are:
- IIM, Ahmedabad
- IIM, Bangalore
- IIM, Calcutta
- IIM, Lucknow
- IIM, Kozhikode
These IIMs select candidates based on their performance in the nationally administered Common Admission Test (CAT), performance in the subsequent rounds of Personal Interviews, and past academic performance. Some of the IIMs also give considerable weightage to work experience.
A work experience of 3 to 4 years would be good enough to shield poor academic performance. Additionally, you could take up some certification courses, live projects, internships, etc. All this, along with an exceptionally good CAT score and a good PI performance, can collectively help you land a seat in one of the top IIMs.

Hello,

Now, coming to the second question, how to prepare for it. CAT is a comprehensive examination that doesn't test your knowledge but your presence of mind. Even if you have a top-notch strategy, it may not work on the D-day, as they say it. Any strategy that you adopt must be your own to form. You need to understand that each applicant has his/her strengths and weaknesses. And all have a specific signature ability to improve.
Having said that, I'll suggest you to go through the tips and tricks our experts have given on Careers360. Click on the link below to read it.

I have scored 88.6 in 10th and 58 in 12th expecting 7.0 in graduation , if i will score high in CAT, can i get into IIMs ?
With a somewhat Average Academic Record, with a slight dip in Class 12th Marks, assuming youre from General Category, I believe you must target nowhere less than 99 Percentile, for chances to secure a Call for Interview from some of the IIMs as well as have great chances of Call from other Good MBA Institutes like Old IITs, MDI, IMT and many others. Besides CAT, you must also appear for other MBA Entrances like SNAP, MAT, XAT, NMAT as they too are gateways to some of the Top B Schools of India. However, with the kind of Academic Record you have, for a Call from Top 6 IIMs, you might just require a higher Percentile above 99.4-99.5. However, incase youve certain Categorical Advantage, you might require a lesser Percentile.

I have 74% in 10th, 66% in 12th 5.52 cpga in Graduation & after 1 year gap 7.88 cgpi in M.com. I am 26 Years old. Should i prepare for CAT 2022 Or is it too late? #CAT #IIM
