in B.Sc what are best reference books for physics especially for mechanics
You can try for Concepts of Physics by H.C. Verma if you had not read it earlier in 11th and 12th standard. The language of this book is too simple for better understanding and there are enough solved example in this book to grasp the concepts easily.
Specially for mechanics you can go for following books.
- Engineering Mechanics by Timoshenko and Young
- Engineering Mechanics by Meriam and Kraige
- Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday, Resnick and Walker
I think these books are enough to grasp the fundamental concepts of mechanics. For solving complex problems I can refer to Problems in General Physics by I.E. Irodov.
in B.Sc for physics especially for mechanics which are the best reference books?
Hello Shivalin
The best book for Mechanic in B.Sc is Mechanics by D.S. Mathur (S. Chand Publishing) it's one of the oldest books that is still being used by many students across the country.DS Mathur is considered to be the topmost physics author of the country and majority of the colleges and universities follow this book as a reference and also as a textbook.
hope this helps you
how many questions come from mechanics in jee mains every year??
Every year from mechanics itself there is around 5-7 questions in jee mains examination for sure. It includes the topics like:-
Rotation
Kinametics
Elasticity
Work, Energy and Power...
So, the total marks mechanics comprises in jee mains examination is around 20-28.
Mechanics is the base for your physics that's why it becomes more important from exam and future point of view.. because you also facing mechanics in first year of engineering irrespective of your branch.
What is the correct sequence of studying physics from starting? Mechanics Wave Thermodynamics Optics Morden Electrostatic Current electricity Magnetism Electromagnetic induction
Hello Sangita Kumari!
Before getting into the exact answer, a few things to say!
- Mechanics is the basics of physics. It includes linear motion, laws of motion, rotational motion etc. It is not related to electricity or optics.
- I would recommend you to study optics and then waves. because some of the basic concepts of optics such as wavelength, frequency etc also appear in waves. You can also simultaneously study them if that is comfortable for you.
- Then for electricity part, electrostatic is the basic chapter and a proper understanding of it will help current electricity chapter.
- Then you can study Magnetism and electromagnetic induction.
- Thermodynamics can be covered in between.
So I would the sequence mechanics, electrostatic, current, magnetism, electromagnetic induction, thermodynamics, optics and waves.
Note that this is my opinion. I f you feel any other sequence comfortable go with that. Remember that while you are covering a new chapter you must regularly revise the previous chapters.
All the best!
my rank is 32000in ap eamcet. and iam belongs to sc category(femle). can I get a seat in jntua kakinada or svu college tirupati with the branches of ece ,mechanics or IT? in these 2 colleges in which branch I can get a seat?
Hello
Based on your rank, category I think you can get into SVU college of Engineering. You can get into the branches like mechanical, civil,EEE . Even you can opt for JNTU Ananthapur .It is also a good college.
Hope this helps you
My rank is 32000in ap eamcet exam. and iam belongs to sc (female).can I get a seat in jntua kakinada with the branches of cse or ece or mechanics? In these 3 branches in which branch I can get a seat ?
According to previous year cutoff yes you may get seats in jntu but the admissions possibility depends on many factors so please predict your college using our college predictor tool free of cost.

My rank in ap eamcet is 32000.and iam belongs to sc category (female).can I get a seat in Andhra college or SVU college tirupati with the branches of cse or ece or mechanics?
So u can get easily a seat in mech and ECE.good luck.
MY rank is 36000 in ap eamcet exam. and iam belongs to sc category (female). can I get a seat in JNTUA kakinada with the branch of cse or ece or mechanics? in these 3 branches in which branch I can get a seat?
Hello there
I am considering you as a candidate of andhra pradesh as your domicile state .If we observe the last year cutoffs then there is a chance of you to get mechanical engineering .However you also have a chance to get chemical engineering.but getting cse or ece might be tough .But as cutoffs may vary from year to year so nothing can be said for surety .
