Question : Which Indian physicist introduced a new statistical method in 1924 to derive the blackbody radiation law concerning a gas of light quanta (photons)?
Option 1: Meghnad Saha
Option 2: Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman
Option 3: Homi Jehangir Bhabha
Option 4: Satyendra Nath Bose
Correct Answer: Satyendra Nath Bose
Solution : The correct answer is Satyendra Nath Bose.
A novel statistical technique for deriving the blackbody radiation law in terms of a gas of light quanta (photons) was presented by Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose in 1924. His theory produced the astounding prediction that a finite fraction of all particles would condense into the lowest-energy single-particle state below a certain critical temperature.
Question : In which year did Albert Einstein predict a new state of matter, the Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC), based on a quantum formulation by the Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose?
Option 1: 1935
Option 2: 1924
Option 3: 1930
Option 4: 1919
Correct Answer: 1924
Solution : The correct option is 1924.
In 1924, Albert Einstein predicted a new state of matter, the Bose-Einstein Condensate based on formulations by the Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose. It is also known as the fifth state of matter. It is a state of matter created when particles called bosons are cooled to near absolute zero.
Question : Which physicist is known for discovering that any periodic wave can be represented as an infinite number of weighted sinusoids, i.e., the sum of sine and cosine waves?
Option 1: Louis de Broglie
Option 2: Jean-Baptiste Joseph Fourier
Option 3: Joseph-Louis Lagrange
Option 4: Ernest Walton
Correct Answer: Jean-Baptiste Joseph Fourier
Solution : The correct option is Jean-Baptiste Joseph Fourier.
Jean-Baptiste Joseph Fourier is known for discovering that any periodic wave can be represented as an infinite number of weighted sinusoids, i.e., the sum of sine and cosine waves.
Fourier's work in the early 19th century led to the development of Fourier analysis and the Fourier series, a fundamental concept in mathematics and physics. This idea of decomposing complex periodic functions into simpler trigonometric components is now widely known as Fourier's theorem or Fourier transform.
Question : In which year did Albert Einstein predict a new state of matter, the Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC), based on a quantum formulation by the Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose?
Option 1: 1919
Option 2: 1935
Option 3: 1924
Option 4: 1930
Correct Answer: 1924
Solution : The correct answer is 1924.
The Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC), a new state of matter, was predicted by Albert Einstein in 1924 based on quantum formulations by Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose.
Question : Which of the following personalities is a well-known Indian plant physiologist and physicist?
Option 1: J.C. Bose
Option 2: C.V. Raman
Option 3: C.N.R. Rao
Option 4: J.R.D. Tata
Correct Answer: J.C. Bose
Solution : The correct answer is J.C. Bose.
Indian scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose made important advances in a variety of scientific fields. His work on wireless information transmission using microwaves has made him well known.
I am in class 10 and I want to become a physicist and I am opting for basic maths can anyone guide me on what will I have to do?
Dear aspirant,
First of all, you will have to choose PCM/PCMB in your class 11. After this, prepare for KVPY, which you can give in both class 11 and class 12. If you get AIR below 250 in KVPY, you have an excellent chance of getting into IISc to pursue a BS in physics. After this you can look for masters and then PhD abroad to widen your experience and expertise.
Alternatively, you can write IISER-SCB in your class 12. If you get on the top 1 percentile in class 12, you'll be eligible for INSPIRE scholarship which amounts to about 60k every year. You can do your BS-MS in physics from IISERs and look better PhD options after that.
You can also pursue BS physics in IITs if you crack JEE Advanced but I would strongly recommend aiming to get into institutes aimed to do research. For becoming a physicist you'll most likely have to a PhD. So, there is atleast 10 long years of academic work that you'll have to do after class 12. Don't worry, you'll be able to earn a decent amount of stipend while doing your PhD.
Pursue your passion for physics on your own as well. Learn the concepts that interest you, look at what research is going on in this country and abroad and keep doing physics.
Hope this helps
can a physicist be a elon musk ?
Hi,
Physicist is a person who studies the nature of matter, energy and space. He/she has to have knowledge in Physics to do this job. Physicists are also known as Physical scientists or natural scientists. They work on various topics like:
1) The study of chemical reactions and physical changes between atoms and molecules (Chemistry).
2) The study of light, electricity, magnetism, heat and other forms of energy (Physics).
3) The study of motion including motion through air and water (Mechanics).
Physicist is a very interesting and useful word. It means someone who studies physics, the science of matter and energy. The word physicist comes from the Greek words physis meaning “nature” or “form” and logos meaning “study” or “knowledge”. Physicists are interested in how nature works at all levels, from atoms to galaxies; they study everything that exists in space and time. They also study what happened before there was time (or even space) – which is called cosmology – as well as what happens after we die (or even after our universe ends).
Physicist jobs are the ones where you will be working with physics, and all its related fields. You can work in a lab as well as on a team or even be an individual researcher. The job is not easy but it also has its perks like being able to help people and make discoveries that will change lives forever. What are Physicist salaries? The salary of the physicist depends on their area of specialization and experience. If you have more experience then expect more money than someone who just graduated from college.
Thank you!
how can i become a theortical physicist while doing m.sc ?
If you are doing MSc in Physics then if you wish to become a Theoretical Physics, then going for the PhD is the only way out to make yourself established as a Theoretical Physicist in the academia. Now if you wish to go for PhD then the best choices for PhD are provided below-
- TATA INSTITUTE OF FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH
- INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE, BANGALORE
- INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR THEORETICAL SCIENCES, BANGALORE
