3. A fish adapts itself to live in water. Likewise, different animals adapt themselves to their surroundings. (a) How do animals adapt themselves to their surroundings! (b) What value do we learn from the animals that easily adapt themselves? Value Corner
(a) Animals have adapted to the environment in a series of physical and behavioral adaptations. Following are a few examples.
Physical Adaptations:
Structural Adaptation: Changes were made to an animal's body structure. For example, birds have wings for flying. Fish have gills that aid them in respiration in water. Polar bears have thick, shaggy fur that saves them from the snow-laden winds in their arctic habitats.
Physiological Adaptations: Such changes take place in the internal proceedings of an animal. For instance, camels store water in their humps, and some change the temperature of the body to live in extreme conditions.
Behavioral Adaptations:
Migration: Some animals move to other locations in reaction to seasonal changes or food availability. Hibernation: Animals, for example, bears and squirrels, sleep through the winter, conserving energy.
Camouflage: Many animals, like chameleons change color to blend with their surroundings.
Mimicry: Animals in some instances mimic other animals' shape or properties to deter predators or attract prey.
(b) There are many valuable lessons that we could learn if we have a better understanding of how animals adapt:
Resilience: Animals are extremely resilient to adversarial conditions. If we take, for example, heart in understanding how animals adapt to adversity, we can learn to make similar adjustments in our own personal lives and have a better chance to overcome difficulties and setbacks.
Resourcefulness: Animals show resourceful in terms of finding food, shelter, and water. Learning to be resourceful and create creative solutions to problems.
Cooperation: Many animals in the case of wolves and ants work together in groups to survive. We could learn the importance of cooperation and teamwork.
Respect for Nature: Animals adapt to their environment; thus, observing them can develop a deeper appreciation for nature and the need to protect it.
We can only understand and appreciate the incredible ways in which these animals adapt in their environments, giving us great insight into the possibilities of our own lives and the wonderful world in which we inhabit.
E. Short Answer Questions: 1. What is meant by environment? Name two components of environment.
All the external elements impacting the life and development of an organism form its environment. It can be broadly divided into two broad categories:
1. Abiotic Components: These are the non-living parts of the environment. These include:
Physical Components:
Atmosphere: The layer of gases overlaying the Earth, including oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor.
Hydrosphere: All the water bodies on the Earth, such as oceans, rivers, lakes, and groundwater.
Lithosphere: The outer solid crust that consists of the crust and part of the upper mantle.
Chemical Compounds: The elements and compounds in the environment consist of minerals, salts, and gases.
2. Biotic Elements: Biota are those living elements of the environment. These are:
Plants: the Producers
Plants refer to those organisms that produce energy through the process of photosynthesis by the use of sunlight.
Animals: They are consumers. This means that they take their food either from plants or another animal.
Microorganisms: They are microscopic organisms such as bacteria, fungi, and others which perform vital functions in the ecosystem.
Such complex and dynamic interaction makes an ecosystem between these biotic and abiotic components. From these, knowledge about the components is essential to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

Is JEE Main syllabus similar to the syllabus of CBSE and other state boards of Class 11 and 12?
This is primarily based on the CBSE Class 11 and 12 syllabus for all three subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
In a nutshell, though NCERT is excellent as a starting point, JEE Main is comparatively more vibrant with deeper thinking and hence it requires much more problem-solving acumen.
Key Takeaways
NCERT as Reference: NCERT books for Class 11 and 12 can be taken as a good foundation to start with JEE Main.
Other Reference Books: You can refer to some reference books like HC Verma for Physics, NCERT for Chemistry and RD Sharma or Cengage for Maths
Practice Daily: You should practice many practice problems and previous years' question papers to improve problem-solving and time management skills.
Join an Abode Coaching Institute: There are institutes of coaching and a good one can guide you through proper support from certified faculty and a competitive learning environment. Many students regularly interact with teachers to clear their doubts on specific topics or concepts.
By these tips and diligent study habits, you could all too well prepare yourself for the JEE Main and pass it successfully.
Actually im general. is it okay if I leave my caste as obcncl rather than changing to general. at the time of admission ill be considered as general thats all right?? nothing more than that will happen right?
Hello Jayyanth
No you should not mention your caste as OBC NCL if you don't have that caste certificate and you belong to general category.
You must enter your caste as GENERAL . If you don't do that your application form may be rejected.
OBC stands for other Backward class and NCL stands for non creamy layer that means the category in which patents income is less than 4 lakh per year. Also presenting caste certificate is mandatory, without caste certificate no candidate will bd considered as obc ncl.
Candidates belonging to this category should meet the necessary eligibility criteria and certain documents for getting the benefits of reservations of seats.
Hello Sir, I give 12th Maharashtra board exam in 2022 and get 48% and not clear grouping, now Im in 2nd year of BA and Im now thinking that I have made huge mistake. Sir now want to improve my 12th marks by and get admission through mht-cet in any good college sir is that possible for me.
To be eligible for mht CET you should have 50 percent in combined of all subjects that you have in your class 12th standard.
if you have less than 50 percent you will definitely not going to give examination only students allowed For reserved category with 40 percent.
If you want to repeat 12th you can but it will take your precious years so think before doing that it must contribute to your future goals.
Other thing is if you want to do job in future you can do it by scoring good in your graduation.i suggest you to pass your b.a exam with good marks more than 50 percent that makes you eligible for the most of the masters courses in future in good universities.
Its not necessary to change your past mistakes rather than learn from your mistakes.
Good luck ..
