To join the NCC Air Wing unit, Hanmakonda, an individual needs to fulfill all eligibility criteria such as nationality-cum-domicile: he or she should be an Indian citizen, of good moral character and should be enrolled in any school/college for education. The candidate needs to fulfill medical standards and should be between 12 and 18½ years for Junior Division and up to 26 years for Senior Division. You can apply through the Commanding Officer of the nearest NCC unit or through the headmaster of your educational institution in case no unit is available.

Registration to NCC usually begins in July to August though varies depending on the units. It has no fee for registration except on some micro-charges on administrating or uniform per unit. Joining the NCC, especially the Air Wing is very good course for an aviator if you have plans to become an IAF pilot. It will provide them all the training, discipline, and exposure they need for associated aviation activities. During the completion of this course, they are also eligible to appear in the selection examinations held by IAF for its pilots which consist of various aptitude and fitness tests as well.
